but, how long will they keep paying. If the damage is truly long term, will they keep paying, I don't believe they would, right now it seems to be all PR

You do make a living off others drilling for oil and gas, correct?

You're retarded response, BTW, is another reason I'm saying frick BP.

My retarded response? You're in the same fricking industry that BP is in. Who do you work for? BP, Shell, Exxon? Which pimp do you belong to?

They're the degenerate piece of shite guy in your frat who slipped a sorority girl some ruffies and tried to date rape her. frick HIM for being a piece of shite and for making everyone who he represents look stupid!!!

maybe you should find another occupation since you're embarassed by what your frat brothers are doing.

I will agree that the clean up could be better managed, but if these pics piss you off or make you want to cry, do something about it, make a difference, stop using all products produced from oil. Shut off the electric and gas powering your home, get on your bike or walk wherever you need to go, and get off this computer that is made of plastic.

Yes.

And so do you.

Honda and Toyota are both in the same industry, too.

Now tell me I shouldn't buy cars b/c Toyota's epic frick-ups caused accelerators to stick and people to die.

Jesus Christ some of you people are fricking obtuse.

Or I can say "frick that dude. He apparently is a degenerate piece of shite who doesn't represent me, and frick HIM for being a piece of shite and making ME look stupid, despite me being a stand up guy to the ladies."....you know....like I'm doing.

While I agree we need to ween ourselves off of oil and use it as little as possible, oil CAN BE and IS produced SAFELY, CLEANLY, and RESPONSIBLY both in the gulf of mexico, and throughout the world.

I don't know. That is what he told me. But with the US government stating they're gonna "keep their boot on the neck of BP", I would assume BP is gonna pay a lot for a long time.

BP is losing a shite ton of money over this. Do y'all not think that they want this leak closed and the oil cleaned up as quickly as humanly possible? Every day this leak continues it probably exponentially increases BP's losses.

A lot of ppl on this board come across like they think BP went out and operated hazardously with no concern for their actions. And I think that's false. I mean damn, shite happens. If every country on earth is dependent on oil and gas, then we have to deal with the consequences of our dependence.

Based on what evidence?

I'm not saying it's NOT false, but I am not aware of any evidence that leads me to believe that BP DIDN'T operate hazardly.

Evidence that BP has cultural issues with safety and environmental risk management...

Texas City

The Prudhoe Bay P/L

And these two epic disasters were just in the last 5 years IN THE UNITED STATES!

I'm just saying...if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...sure, it might not be a duck. But my money's on "duck" until I see something to indicate it ISN'T a duck.

By who? How much worse would this situation be if at happened on a well being drilled by a company that doesn't have the deep pockets of bp, and the gubment was picking up the tab? Tell me which other operators haven't taken the same shortcut bp took but didn't have multiple failures.

Seriously?

I don't know enough about what shortcuts (specifically) BP took here to comment on that, but I will tell you that 30% of the oil that this country uses comes out of the DW GOM, from wells just like this, and nothing anywhere even remotely close to this has EVER even come close to happening before.

In the last 3 years,
quote:

OSHA statistics show BP ran up 760 "egregious, willful" safety violations, while Sunoco and Conoco-Phillips each had eight, Citgo had two and Exxon had one comparable citation.

LINK

I don't think BP deserves any defense whatsoever.

Those pictures were taken NORTH of Grand Isle on the largest Pelican breeding grounds in the State of Louisiana. The photographer and others couldn't rescue those birds because they were afraid they would disturb the other birds which would kill more of them when they fleed into the oil.

I am very concerned about the Barataria basin because oil just keeps moving further and further north. This stuff is going to be on the Westbank expressway at the rate its moving and killing marsh.
