that's it huh ?

No. They plan on continuing to optimize the capture of the oil using the top hat to the Enterprise vessel on the surface and also rig up lines to the choke / kill ports on the BOP to siphon to the Q4000 vessel on the surface.

figuring out how to suck up just enough oil to not make it obvious that the 12-19000 estimate is another lowball figure

They sure can make sure they can suck any oil they can use but sure are having a hard time cleaning up the oil that is already spilled.
frick BP! Hope they rot in hell.

Those comments wont sit well in here. Its a BP stronghold. Welcome aboard. Its refreshing to see a different opinion than BP is God and this is just a drop in the bucket oil spill.

How? This is a modified version of what they are currently doing with a different "cap".

We also must keep in mind that they are proceeding cautiously probably for the safety of the crew on the Enterprise ship. More like taking small steps before they run. The leak rate may be more than what the Enterprise can handle (15,000 bbd) so there may be safety concerns over going to quickly and overwhelming the Enterprise. Just my best guesses though. Hopefully we get another technical update in the near future from that Kent Wells guy.

I thought the oil was being transferred to larger ships as it was coming into the enterprise for seperation?

I have a brother and nephew working security down there and they said more is being done to cover shite up than clean anything up.
Said they were given strict orders to not let anyone with a camera anywhere near.

Mudminnow, yes they are probably going to offload the oil but they are probably concerned about the capacity to separate the oil / gas and the flare capacity. I don't have the details. Just on the board curious like everyone else. Wish they would tell us more though.

BP has said all along only 5,000 barrels was leaking a day. The govt and coastguard formed a panel of scientists and engineers and they agreed between 12,000 - 19,000 barrels/ day.
They are already sucking 6,000 barrels of oil/day and it still looks like a geyser down there. Its looking like this new estimate of 12-19K barrels may very well be an under estimate as well.
Has BP acknowledged their 5,000 barrel/ day estimate may have been flawed?

yeah, they're currently holding the position that it's "impossible" to estimate

Actually they may burn a large portion of the captured oil. Goal is to remove the oil from the water, not to capture it for resale.
You'll see the smoke clouds out there if they siphon is successful.

The wife and I will do our part Tues. to see that ole Blanche has to live out the rest of her life here in Ark. with the rest of us poor fools. Not voting against her because of big oil but because of her vote on health care. She even brags about her vote in one of her tv ads.
