Anyone else find all these sudden oil catastrophes odd? I am only 20 so I don't really have a long running record but I can never really remember hearing about the number of spills that are going on now..... Michigan, Lafitte, DWH, the leak not far away from DWH, China, etc.....

Everything is just being blown out of proportion because of the DWH catastrophe.

There are thousands of leaking, abandoned wells in the Gulf and just about every other ocean in the world where drilling occurs.

when a well is abandonded, it is PnA'd (plugged and abandonded) they pump mud into the reservoir and set cement plugs throughout the well bore

There is also one that occurred yesterday in Morgan City.
This is an everyday type thing for OSRA companies. It just so happened the DWH was the motherload and its bringing everything into the light.

Not a whole lot of people know Russia experimented with nuclear bombs in controlling blowouts and in stimulating production either. Media controls so much of what average Americans see. If anything good can come out of the Macondo blowout it will be that Americans will gain a greater appreciation for the lengths companies have to go in order to provide energy.

I live in MC and didn't hear anything about this. Do you know any more about it?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found some info online.

The media is just hyping everything out of proportion.
