funny how quickly someone gets called out when they call "greed" a factor in oil prices, but this dumb shite doesn't get touched, and it runs rampant on this board, the poli board, and even the OT

I believe Obama wants government to rule just about as much as it can, that's his socialistic platform. He sure seems to be running through his agenda awful fast. This event might help his Cap and Trade agenda that is in the Senate (or House) I forget where it is at. All I know if that is passed in its present form, areas that rely on Energy would be in a world of hurt. I have talked one on one with a couple of refinery managers here in NOLA and they are deathly affraid of Cap and Trade.

No doubt, it's going to effect more than just refineries.

of course greed is a factor in oil prices

greed drives capitalism. greed is good.

but you're pretending like you know obama's hopes and dreams, when in reality he'd probably rather get rid of oil dependence than control it. Sounds pretty stupid to me.

If that one plane crashed while flying farther than most flights and caused immense environmental damage and it was caused by a lack of safety standards or those standards being ignored; I sure hope that we would take a look at how we run the airline industry and especially extremely long flights. (the long flights referring to deep water drilling)

On a slightly different note do you even know what socialism means? That term has been so distorted since the extreme right has used it to scare the idiots of this country. We are no where near socialism in this country. No where close.

Well they will get the biggest hit. The administration has shown they will take it easier on electrical companies (they don't want people's heating and air bills the quadruple, he would look bad...), Coal fired plants, any other facility that is emitting any carbon into the atmosphere. It would add about 400m (so I have been told by the refinery managers) to their carbon credit tax. He said who do you think will pay for that? we will...that and it will run business overseas.

That's a place that a lot of the posters on this site haven't been to in a while.

You are correct but eight years of obama would put us a hell of a lot closer to it than this country needs.

I am sorry that I slightly made this into a political discussion and that is not what this board is for. I get aggravated when people honestly believe stupid shite.

Along those lines we actually have people on this site (although I hope less than I suspect) who believe the Macondo well was intentionally destroyed by a North Korean torpedo.

Well that is not an option, he's a control freak. He wants to control drilling, why do you think he did what he did today? Why do you think there are more semi's and drill ships leaving the GOM everyday? He's been trying to reduce the amount of drilling since he took office.

It didn't budge bc one well offline will not make a big difference in supply. When you start affecting future supply ie cutting off drilling in The gulf, Houston we have a problem.

My heart goest out to alll the folks along the 90 corridor. Obama fricked Louisiana bigtime on this. Bc we all know when oil is down, the oilfield guys start fishing and shrimping. And when oil is up, they start back offshore/onshore. So if a plane crashes, we will just ground all flights for 6 months?
