Except this one may be a little different since it is coming from:

The Office of Lt. Governor / Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism

Well with that kind of attitude we should do nothing and wait for the gov't and BP to fix it for us.

Still doesn't address the fact that there is no way to verify if the people putting their name on it is actually a person or if it's not a bot loading up names taken out of whitepages.com.

And I feel even worse for the people of La if they believe this. The Office of the Lt. Governor must not have anyone who actually deals with internet research or development if they are using a UNSECURE and NOT ENCRYPTED form to collect names.

If they try to use this information, it might as well have an attached message to send money to a student in Uganda.

I work with PACs.

Want to get attention.

Get people in other states to support you. Call your frigging cousins, ex-wives, and that girl you balled that you don't want anything to do with who lives in North Dakota or Utah.

This is the United States. Sucks that Louisiana is going to lose jobs but it will increase jobs through the rest of the country.

So if you want to ACTUALLY be effective, rather than signing a stupid (and impotent) form, get people from the REST of the COUNTRY to call their representatives.

You know those a-hole tea party people? Why aren't they in Michigan protesting this?

You need to show that the rest of the country agrees in lifting the ban. Otherwise, it looks like a bunch of fat pig Louisiana people who have sucked at the tit of big oil for years are moaning.

Act like Louisiana has at least a little business sense. Sheesh.

They must be hiring retards to do the IT on this.

Heck, even retards would be using cloud computing on the server-side to prevent gridlock. And just a smidgen of security, which seems to be completely lacking.

Even more evidence that the people in La don't know what they are doing and the ban is the appropriate reaction.

Just keeps getting better.

I went to the petition and saw the message that the server is overloaded and this is the error.

Wow.

You in La are more fricked than you even know if this is the technology they are using to collect petition signatures.

JET database?!?!?!!?!?!

Like using leeches and bleeding people when they are sick instead of giving them antibiotics.

But then again, your governor is all up in exorcisms, so it makes sense to have voodoo politics.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about? Better yet do you know that JET is not even a database?

They could be using anything from Access to SQL Server for this application. Either of which would be perfectly acceptable technology for collecting petition signatures.

But I guess wherever you live they would spring for an Oracle ERP for this type of thing.

I would say ignore and ban the flamer, but if he keeps bumping this to the top I have no problems.

Please tell me how this won't affect jobs in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama?

And where will this job increase come from? People mailing out unemployment checks?

14K signatures keep it going....
