The double red flags are up they are saying because of an undertow but it's really because of the dispersants and they not knowing the affect.

Dispersants are biodegradable and are not a hazard at all when they are diluted in the gom.

Just about everything you have under your kitchen sink is more toxic than the dispersants and use those chemicals just once and you will get exposed more than you will from the gom.

Stop crying freaking wolf... it isn't a monster it is just dispersants.

The double red flags are a main reason people are not going to that area. Seems like they would realize that. Sitting by the pool is nice but people can do that w/o having to drive to the gulf.

On Wednesday, both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach switched from double red flags to single red flags. Swimming advisory is still in effect.

Just read that it has been lifted. It was never enforced from what I have been told.

Read the same after I posted. You are correct. Not much enforcement. But it is the Gulf of Mexico after all and people should always "Swim at Your Own Risk" no matter what flags are flying.

My daughter went with neighbors this weekend and gulf was covered in sheen. Not much oil on beach, probably b/c workers clean it early in the am... Based on recent postings, I believe the oil comes in waves, sometimes its a nonissue and sometimes its heavy like this weekend.

That's strange. I know someone who was down there this weekend and said the water quality was as nice as it gets for the area. In fact, he said it was nicer than usual. What did your daughter mean when she said the gulf "was covered in sheen"? I've been down there a half dozen times since the disaster started and BY FAR the worst I saw was a very light sheen a few floating tar balls in the water on one trip.

Just got back from a week at the Beach Club yesterday and the water was the nicest I have seen it in a while...including before the spill. Double red flags when we got there but by Saturday they had changed to yellow.
