Someone please interpret.
I have a geologist friend that forwarded this to me today and thinks this is good news. They had three major projects on hold and are ready to get them started up again.
We can only hope.......

This process is degrading and insulting. They are now in a political quagmire, much of which is owed to their own doing.
Ticked off their base, and ticked off the people who make this country move, literally.

Yes but would you start doing anything as a operator with the threat hanging over your head that another better worded and more targeted moratorium will come down in the coming days.
Posted on 6/25/10 at 3:59 pm to ItTakesAThief
BS........what's even worse is the BS going on in shallow water. No moratorium, but exactly zero permits are being issued.
Posted on 6/25/10 at 4:03 pm to ItTakesAThief
Exactly. A few have already left the gulf. sure would love to hear an update on home many more have left, or likely to leave, or have begun to drill again.
I think the simple fact that the US is now a hostile enviroment for oil companies will have companies picking other countries when it come to where they want to invest.
We may have at least temp. won the moretorium battle but I think we lose the war end the end. at least until Obama loses the next election.

I don't know but that last paragraph makes it sound like they don't need to obey the order for the moratorium from 5/28?????

Right but you need to a permit to drill and they are holding off issuing any......even in shallow water.
Pieces of crap!

I want the price to stay over $100 also, but it would really suck if we were paying $5 gallon for gas and our local energy industry tanks.
And it could happen with these idiots in charge.

How many hippies do you know?
Most I know want the price of oil to be high to stimulate conservation and alternative fuel development and consumption.
Not attacking or flaming, just trying to figure out where you are coming from.

The beauty of it going over $100 is that it will force the white house to allow further drilling.....if they don't I can imagine even more pissed off constituents heading into November. (I guess they didn't give a rats arse about us during the health care debate, but perhaps being closer to November they will humor us).
How long will it take for some idiot to claim the oil companies are raising costs to help make back the money they are losing due to the spill?

Exactly, but the it was overturned because it was arbitrary and capricious and threw a blanket over the entire industry.
The Sec of Interior can issue a more targeted and well thought out moratorium setting certain parameters which may be upheld by the court. So if a company starts moving equipment and spends money to drill, they may be stopped by a new moratorium in a few weeks.
