they have like 4-5 tankers on site with mud, they have enough. If they need that much, it won't work

the more leaks that appear, the harder it is to pump against the oil.
imagine if you will, you are trying to blow bubbles with a straw inside a glass of coke. now, your straw has 12 holes before it even touches the coke. it's gonna take a shitload of pressure from your mouth to make bubbles appear. does this help?

so 07 you think that view is from the top of the BOP where the riser bent over?
i was outside and walked in after 30 min. i don't know what i am looking at right now. i am hoping that rov moves to show me something that i recognize.

beneath that is a string of 22" casing. The top of the 22" is the high pressure housing -- the wellhead -- that's designed to handle high pressure. it's usually machined from a solid 27" or 30" mandrel and has an 18 3/4" ID. It has profiles on the inside of it to land other hanger (like the 9 7/8" x 7" casing hanger) and it has a profile cut on the outside of it for the BOP to latch onto it.
I think I am confused as to which way beneath is??
If I said the 28" string is inside the 36" low pressure housing and the 22# high pressure housing is inside the 28# string would that be right?
And is oil rising up through the 18 3/4" id?
Does the mud have to go down the same 18 3/4" id casing?
Thanks, very much.

"we are killing it"
It is about time it died.
It strikes me that the amount of mud is indicative of the amount of pressure they have to fire in there to compensate for the pressure coming up from the well. As long as we see mud, that is a good sign if the laws of pressure are remotely similar here to there.
Wow....

My female brain does NOT get this ... if it's coming out it's coming out. If mud is coming out it's coming out ... don't get how it'll "push" the oil back into the well bore.
From what I understand, they are pumping the mud into the tube closer to the seafloor in the BOP and not into that pipe that has been on video.

I think it means some of the mud is coming back out the leaks but some of it also going down the well.
But I'm also a bit of a ruhtard.

pretty much. the 22" is actually landed in the top of the 36".
is is suspected that the well is flowing in the annular space between the other strings of casing and the 9 7/8" x 7" production casing (so between the 22" and 9 7/8") then entering the the 9 7/8" through a failed component, then going up into the BOP stack - which has an 18 3/4" ID as well.

they arent pumping the mud into the end of the pipe, they are pumping it farther up into the pipe and it is coming out of the pipe in the same direction of the oil trying to slow it

They are actually pumping it into the BOP.
