He either finally got it or gave up. I'm guessing the latter.

Looks like they are going to bring in another ship.

with 11,120 barrels captured yesterday and the aim of 20K today. BP still sticking with their 5K barrel estimate?

My guess is NOW they have a fairly accurate way of measuring it instead of a bunch of asshat's WAG's. Maybe....I don't know, sometime the hate and conspiracy theories just bring me down to a hate level!!

asshats? These are world reknown experts that came up with the 12K-19K estimate which now looks like an underestimate as well.

I wonder what the percentage of sea water is in that 20,000 barrel per day estimate.

It better be very small. The whole reason they're still letting so much oil escape is to keep seawater out of the cap.

from what I understand they are getting 11,120 barrels of oil/day now. Thats after removing the natural gas and oil.

I'm guessing they hope to get 20K barrels of oil a day after removing all gas and oil.

From my latest Sitrep:

"They continue to recover production to the Enterprise. The last 24 hour collection was 11,119 barrels and 22 million cubic feet of gas. The Massachusetts barge is mobilizing to offload approximately 60,000 barrels of oil from the Enterprise today."

60,000 barrels of processed crude collected = 60,000 not spilled into the GOM....

are they sucking up oil while offloading to the barge?

Yes The oil from the well that is being caught is continuing while offloading.

Whats the capacity of the Enterprise and the barge? I'm assuming the barge can hold a couple hundred thousand barrels?

I don't know the exact numbers bump the vessel that the oil is being pumped to has a significant large amount of storage capability.

Reporters are still idiots.

They Report that they are sending in another ship to increase capture to 20K eventually. But this other ship I suspect will be connected to the choke and kill lines and not a replacement. The choke and kill lines will be hooked up to a different riser they have said before.

So my point is am I interpreting it right or are you? A well writen article wouldn't have us wondering.

Maybe it has more production equipment and/or capacity than Enterprise.

That's how I read it omega. A different ship in addition to Enterprise with a separate riser.

If I understand correctly, the Q4000 will be handling the capture via the C/K lines. Not sure what it can store, but I guess the shuttle barges will be scheduled based on either the needs of the Enterprise or the Q4000.

I have heard that long-term there will be a new LMRP, detachable production riser and FPSO set-up.
