If the leases are pulled from BP how will they pay for the clean up
Do you honestly think that it will break them? They are a global company.More importantly, how will many of the people in South Louisiana that live off of the seafood industry make a living now?

not to downplay, but these guys have been hired to skim oil with their boats

If you take away their revenue stream it will.
I am done with you. You don't like that you are losing an argument so you try and find something else that you think you might know about.

BP operates Nakika. Shell has the majority ownership and BP has a minority share.

For hypothetical's sake here, what happens if the US actually is successful in seizing the BP federal leases as you say. What happens if all other O & G operators decide not to pursue obtaining the leases? Why would another E & P company want to do business with an entity who has freshly seized an asset? There is a reason service companies and drillers don't want to do business in places like Venezuela and Cuba. Not only that but the lawsuits from shareholders would be endless and would cost the taxpayers a ton of money simply to defend.

Safety and Inspection Requirements. The Lessee shall: (a) maintain all places of employment within the leased area in compliance with occupational safety and health standards and, in addition, free from recognized hazards to employees of the Lessee or of any contractor or subcontractor operating within the lease area; (b) maintain all operations within the leased area in compliance with regulations or orders intended to protect persons, property and the environment on the Outer Continental Shelf; and (c) allow prompt access, at the site of any operation subject to safety regulations, to any authorized Federal inspector and shall provide any documents and records which are pertinent to occupational or public health, safety, or environmental protection as may be requested.
I dont think anyone knows if they have actually broken this clause.

You have a dumb idea. You don't like the fact that I made points that make you look dumb but instead of trying to make a valid point you insult.
My livelihood is being threatened as well so I have a vested interest.
If you want to attack me as an admin, fine. But, I have not banned one person from this particular board. I have let everyone speak their opinions and when I disagree I do so in a thread with my opinion or factual information.

a very small fraction of them yes. For how long? For how much? At first they were told 1200-1500 per day, now it 600 and pay your own capitan.

I can vouch for this.........this has been one of the best moderated boards on here. Considering the very emotional nature of the topics, that is a real testament. Thanks Fred, et al.

you do not debate. You argue. If someone has an opinion that differs from yours you call them dumb. I'm sorry but you act like a spoiled child and nowhere near professional.

I think it's a great idea. If you don't, oh well. After what Obama said about applying for unemployment it appears that he has BP's back and not ours.

Hit BP where it hurts. Why don't you like it? It won't put anyone out of work. Whoever bids on the leases has to factor in the personel they will be taking on. If anything some people will just switch from BP to say Exxon or Chevron. Make a clause were their 401k's roll over with no penality and are vested.
