BACK TO TOPIC AT HAND:

In today's world, if i thought i had an opportunity to get paid... I'd probably go for it as well. Its not like their taking candy from a baby, they are taking it from BP.

Get paid for what? This is what is wrong with people no-a-days if I understand you correctly.

It is ok to steal/extort money from BP because they have a lot of money!

Emotional distress. fricking up their fishing trip. They could be scared of oil rigs now. And fishing, and too scared of oil to pump their own gas now.

That is not stealing nor extortion.

Give me a break. Lawsuits are what is ruining this world. I'd rather someone be scared of fishing than parents being scared to discipline their own children in a public place for fear of some idiot claiming child abuse.

the bold is key, you're supposed to stay 100-500' away i believe. For national security reasons.

Technically speaking, it isn't the fact that the rig is floating that Homeland Security starts paying attention, its the volume of oil that the rig is pumping out.

Practically speaking though, most floaters are big enough that they easily surpass the mini value though.

Don't think DH would have qualified however because it is not a production vessel.

those guys will get zeroed and deservedly so.

There is a guy who removed the installed safety shields of a table saw, and violated several other safety rules on the use of a saw, and a jury only considered him 33% to blame for the partial amputation of his fingers and granted him over a million dollar reward because the table saw manufacture didn't have an unproven technology that would have instantly stopped the blade when flesh touched it.

There is zero justice and rationality in the civil justice system.
