Three anglers who were fishing for tuna near the Deepwater Horizon rig when it exploded are suing BP and other companies for emotional distress over the disaster.

Bradley Shivers, Mark Mead and Scott Russell filed the federal lawsuit in Mobile this week. The men claim they helped respond to the explosion and were traumatized emotionally by sights that
included seeing a burned survivor scream for help.

They say they left on a fishing trip out of Orange Beach the day before the explosion.

BP filed papers Thursday asking a court to delay the case, one of more than 300 federal and state lawsuits filed since the rig exploded and sank on April 20. A federal panel holds a hearing next
week on whether to consolidate the lawsuits.

I thought I read their 'story' and they were told to stay a few miles back and thats what they did ???? I could easily be wrong though.

It was posted on here after the DH accident. It may have even been before this board was created and everyone was posting in 1 topic.

There was two different groups that were fishing. One group was fishing basically at the Horizon. One group was fishing near Nakika.

The group that was at or near the Horizon story has a lot of holes in it. The actual story changed a few times and they claimed that they were told to stay away. I did see video from these guys, but their story sounds like bullshite.

The group that was fishing near Nakika went to assist with the rescue and their story seems a lot more credible. One of those guys posted his story on this board short after the incident.

I don't know which group has filed the lawsuit.

the group fishing at the Horizon claimed to be tied to the platform... which is 10000000% BS

I do believe the Nakika guys are true though

yeah no shite.

I loved the part when the story first broke about how his buddy said to go. It went something like:

He yelled Go Go Go. He untied us while I carefully made sure that the compass was faced due north and then I put all throttles forward.

That story changed pretty quick after everyone told the dumbasses that they wouldn't have been allowed to tie up to the Horizon. They may have been in the area but they weren't under the rig as they first claimed. If I am fishing near a rig that is blowing up I wouldn't care what way the compass was facing.

I'm not sure if you guys got your stories mixed up or not. There was a group(friends of mine) that were fishing very close to the rig, pretty much under it when it started. They never said they were tied to it. But it wasn't those guys listed, Bradley Shivers, etc. It was a group of guys from Mandeville. They were on 60 minutes, Discovery show and are in a magazine. They have video of it that 60 minutes and Discovery used. I don't see why this would be so hard to believe. I've been out on that same boat under rigs fishing before. They are not suing for anything.

Pretty sure that guy posted his story on here two or three times after the explosion. From that story, he was saying they hauled arse and never got back near the rig as one of the buddies said it could be too dangerous.
I guess after all of the scum lawyers bothered them for so long they finally gave in and filed a BS lawsuit.

Well I call bullshite and have been calling bullshite since the story was first posted on that site. They may have been in the area, but not next to or tied up to it as they first said. Their story has changed multiple times since it was originally posted on the link.

1. If a rig is blowing you don't care where the compass is pointing.

2. There was a MAYDAY radio call from the Horizon and all vessels in the area were requested for assistance. No vessels were asked to stay away for safety. The captain of the Damon Bankston, the work boat that was on site, said that he never told any boats to stay away.

Blue, the reason everyone thinks that they were tied to the rig was because in the original version of the story they said they were.
