Listening now ... should BP officials have contacted all the families even if they didn't work for BP? Not being ugly ... just asking for opinions.

Is this Hayward dude even an engineer or just a business man?

And how do you ask questions if you don't know shite? (I'm in that category)

They understand that. But hes the CEO. Thats why he gets paid the big bucks. If shite is fricked up he is gonna take the blame whether he knew or not.

It obvious this guy knows he has to take the blame; however, they are beating a dead horse with some of these questions. It is like they are campaigning by doing it.

I don't know the fault analysis for what happened, but that is probably what he keeps referring to with "investigation". Do they not understand hindsight bias. If their analysis comes back as bad he is going to own up to it.

The reason I'm asking is that some of the families were on Larry King, the day that they went to the White House. They sounded PITIFUL saying that NO ONE had contacted them, and BP didn't care but their loved ones weren't BP employees. I'm sure that their lawyers (BP) said to keep it quiet.

This whole thing all the way around just sucks.

The answer is you eventually stop building in safety measures as the probability of failure is considered non existent. Obviously BP was wrong. Their investigation will determine if the drilling team accepted too high of a probability or not.

These congressmen are just fricking dumb.

The only questions that need to be asked are the probabilities of failure of each safety measure and how did they decide the chance of faliure of the entire well.

This has been contradicted by Transocean, and some of the other survivors/families.

BP did not contact them. Transocean (their employer) did.

These guys are being fricktards. You have an email there that states they used less than the recommended number of casing centralizers.

Then you got a blow out.

You won't know if the casing wasn't properly centralized or cemented unless you can log it.

We don't know for a fact that it wasn't yet... do we?

Sorry UD ... I should have said that no one from BP had contacted them leading to my question if the loved one wasn't a BP employee SHOULD BP have contacted them? Sorry ...

These congressmen are just showboating for the media and public. No CEO of any oil company could answer some of these questions. Too much minute detail that the petroleum engineers designing the well and company men that were on the rig would only know. Typical dumbass politicians.

It wasnt. There was a SLB crew on the rig waiting to run a CBL after the cementing job but BP sent em home. I can guarantee you that running CBLs prior to abandoning a well will be a requirement going forward.

Clearly.. they want to show the "idiotic public" how they really chewed Tony Hayward's arse this time.. They aren't making any kind of inquiry here. They are grandstanding.

60 safety volations is aninstitutional problem, not an employee problem.
