And history will show it was as easy as the simple one-two combination of pictures of poor wittle animals coated in oil and oil on the pristine beaches of Florida on June 4th, 2010. You are proper fricked.

one manatee turns up dead as a result of oil and BP is officially trashed as a company still a lot of respect down along the Louisiana coast but as its impacting more states the pressure will ramp up on BP.

But transocean could NEVER make it through a spill of this magnitude, right?

Exxon disaster didn't have near the effects that this one will have. Can't compare the two IMHO.

Transocean will survive, them and Diamond offshore are two of the few American companies that have massive deepwater drill ships that can be used around the world. If they cant drill here they will just float across the pond and drill elsewhere

In the very near future... when the bald eagles that nest in marshes along the Gulf Coast... start dropping out of the sky from eating oiled fish... THEN this thing will have the "poster child" that makes it a NATIONAL TRAGEDY and not just another Louisiana/Gulf Coast/Southern/Somebody Else's disaster.

Bald Eagles are nesting in the marshes of Louisiana? Meh I thought dat was some funny looking ducks? You must have loads of studies to back this claim up? Will our children be deformed because pregnant women swim in the gulf? The Mexican spill lasted for a year. Did you hear all the tragedy about that one? Me either. Mother nature is an awesome power that has always over come anything man could ever throw at her.

one day driving home from work when I lived in Bay Saint Louis, there was a bald eagle on the side of the road eating roadkill there.

I'd never seen one that close before, I almost hit it. It was beautiful.

Bald eagles are very plentiful in South LA........they nest in trees, in the marsh and feed highly on fish. Being oportunistic feeders they often eat carrion. Floating dead fish make up a decent portion of their diet.

Anyone who has spent any amount of time in South La. would know this. Of course we could stop all drilling while we study it.

I know eagles are in the marshes in the winter. We will be good to go by the winter. Clean up will be in good shape by the winter. In the mean time drill on and MYM so we can have resources to enjoy the Eagles upon their return.

Sorry but neither your assurances nor BP's platitudes are good enough.

Fix the BOP's and plug this well.......then we will consider letting you drill again.

Clarification please. Are the effects you mention the effects on the environment or on the economy?

Bald Eagles Make Comeback in South Louisiana

South Louisiana’s marshes are attractive to the fish-eating bald eagles, not only because of abundant food, but also because of the prevalence of large cypress trees...........

BP is already done as a company. Its over for them. They will at the least have to change the name.

I see a criminal investigation coming from the Justice Dept. BP is going down.

BP as an organization is out of touch with reality. This is a direct result of leadership, or lack thereof. It is my opinion that BP thinks it will eventually cap this well, clean some oil off the beaches, then litigate this like Exxon. However, I believe we are about to see the oil/oil service companies in general go through what the I-banks went through. There will be failures and BP is at the top of the list. Valdez comparisons are silly at this point. That said, although the process will be longer then the quick failures of I-banks, eventually those left standing will be the better for it. Also, this officially ends the Palin era, which is nice. Lastly, once cooler heads prevail, shallow water drilling off the East coast and California will be approved.
