Taken by my brother. He is in the Coast Guard, and is helping to enforce the restricted area around the spill.

Just saying... most of the dolphin deaths were not caused by the oil. Not saying none have... just most were unrelated. I have seen dead porpoises while fishing my entire life. And don't think any that have been examined have been linked to the oil yet.

That would change if you started fishing near massive, catastrophic oil spills. Oh, wait... you can't.... You should just keep monitoring the "control group" and sharing your results.

Meanwhile - In the deep soupy water - the larger animals the oil kills, unable to surface through the sludge... quietly sink to the bottom unexamined and uncounted.
And scientific studies will show that "only very small numbers of animals died oil-related deaths" officially.
The drastic reduction in population was just a coincidence.

You think that... I don't think you understand what's going on.
Because in thread after thread, I see you attempting to minimize first hand reports, downplay BP's role in this, and telling everyone "it's not that bad". Meanwhile scientists, highly educated and trained, are saying the opposite unless they work for the .gov or BP. Coincidence?
Well frick that. It is that bad. It's probably worse than that.
Give it time. Let's see what the prognosis is in October. If I'm wrong I'll waltz right back in here and admit it with relief.
Something tells me that in October you will still be preaching the same message if I am not wrong.
At what point do the deniers actually realize there is a problem here (much bigger than the oil eruption itself) and that many people's lives will never be the same as a result of this?
Or a more sinister explanation is that they are not deniers at all. Rather they somehow profit from the situation and wish it to continue and by misleading people into minimizing the situation they profit even more. Denier or shill: I don't know which it is. But either way it stinks to high heaven.

Deny the severity of this issue at your own peril. For you Christians: Noah started building his ark BEFORE it started raining. And his neighbors said he was crazy.
This whole situation is so bad for the state of Louisiana and the great people there. I'm not from Louisiana, but I did graduate from LSU and spent 18 years living in BR. I will always have fond memories of the good people of Louisiana, the U, and of course the good times I had there all over the state including some of the affected areas. Seeing those pics of areas where I used to sometimes fish and camp is heartbreaking.
At least to me it is. Louisianians are some resilient and resourceful people so I know they'll somehow adapt and find new ways to live. I am confident in that. But that fact doesn't lessen the tragedy that is the destruction of a once beautiful and productive environment.

Wow! BP has discovered TD.com and has hired a public relations poster

Just keep making up your own "facts". Just because you say it is so doesn't make it so. I will take the scientist word over yours.

I stand LINK And don't try to pass this off as UNRELATED.

I'mk far from a BP apologist but not a single dolphin has died as a result of the oil spill.
I have talked to many involved in rescuing sea turtles and those involved in dolphin necropsys.
This time of year dolphins and sea turtles often strand themselves on beaches and get disoriented as a result of a parasite in the brain.
Its been speculated the many turtles washing up have been from vietnmese shrimpers trying to get the last shrimping in.
Not every animal that washes up dead is a result of the oil spill.

agreed, but when your talking about high profile animals like sea turtles and dolphins its gets the nations attention.
Most of the birds in the exxon valdez spill sank.
Ive been labeled as an envir conservationist wacko on this board.
Just pointing out info regarding the strandings
