So wait a second, sea turtles died from the oil spill as well as humans? My conversion rate puts 20 sea turtles= 1 human, so I think were good for now until they find more dead turtles.

You couldn't do that even if you tried. Plenty of BP product gets sold to other refiners. Integrated oil companies trade product all the time. It might sound good to you to scream "boycott" but most people with common sense realize it's nothing more than blatant sensationalism.

I hope that the oil kills any zombies that are spawning near the coast.

i thought a lot of marine life would have a 6th sense to move away from the oil...i know turtles arent fast swimmers, but damn. i wish captain planet was real

I think they just got a lesson. But I see what you are saying

If autopsy confirms that out of 20 turtles, none of their deaths were related to the spill, does that mean marine wildlife is safe?

So wait, you need autopsy reports to tell you whether or not wildlife is suffering from the spill?
That was not the question. The question was whether the spill was to blame for the 20 sea turtle deaths. It could well turn out that they either ingested material from the accident or were otherwise overcome by it, but it seems appropriate to wait and see. These are magnificent animals, and any loss is unfortunate. However, I would point out that individual and sometimes entire pods of marine mammals beach themselves pretty regularly, no involvement of the human element.
I treasure our environment, dare say I spend more time in the area where this event occurred than most of the so-called environmentalists ever will, and believe we should be responsible stewards. This is a terrible tragedy, beyond question, but for someone to blame everything from every dead organism turning up on the beach to their pecker not working (watch the lawsuits for loss of consortium) is irresponsible.

Are any of your lives really worse because 20 turtles died?
I mean I don't want them to die but I won't lose any sleep tonight.

If the issue is the validity of the article, then I understand. I just want to make it clear that it's unreasonable to expect for wildlife casualties to be consistently unrelated to this incident.

To each his own; you gotta follow your conscience on this one man. My conscience says BP needs a lesson in what it means to really be concerned about the environment and less concerned about making nothing but money. Windmill farms are nice ideas; dead Gulf of Mexico, in reality is not so nice.
I started a thread about not buying BP anymore and you would not believe the number of people who were asking 'What did BP do wrong?'.

I hate that this is happening. We had to cancel our beach trip in July, but that is just a drop in the bucket of reality. I am afraid that we will see MANY dead sea creatures on our beaches. This is sad.

It's an indirect relationship. We're very connected to them though, seeing that the Gulf is a major source of our food down here. It's like Jenga. You can only kill so much before everything falls.

And a lot of people could not believe that people like yourself really think that it's possible to boycott BP. BP products are sold at many different brands of gas station by many different retailers. Suppose you could ride a bike and live in the dark.
