Kid obviously had to do something in Abilene and is playing everyone.
Must be awesome to be a kid these days. Everyone thinks you’re a retarded Zoomer so play into the act, go where you want to go and tell the parents you got lost.

I had a former roommate that did that. Lives in Louisiana and had never been to Texas and was told to drive there for work. He got to New Orleans before telling his gf he was lost.

The kid was stoned. I had a college roommate do something similar because he was so high.

The worst part of this thread is OP is blaming shite on the kid instead of his a-hole parents.
This didn’t just happen. Generations upon generations now have been dropping the ball. We’re just getting to see the real negative effects of it, and we don’t like what we see.

Sure. But this is a very specific individual situation. Absentee pops bought him a car with no guidance. I'm not ready to blame systemic bullshite for that without more context. People are still responsible for not being shitheads, and for teaching their kids not to be shitheads, regardless of general social malfeasance.
"Most people are lousy parents" is not a justification for being a lousy parent.

On my 18th birthday my dad got me a G Wagon with navigation and said figure it out.

He went 181 miles without seeing another car come his way?

He was in the westbound lane

It means it included navigation without having to use a cellular device
Would you be interested in purchasing a heavily used 2017 G Wagon?

My mom is 64 and uses waze...but calls and asks me directions. She told me she wants to make sure I’m giving her the same directions

Not buying it. That kid went somewhere else for the day and then told mom and dad he headed in the wrong direction.

Lack of geography skills isn't a generational thing (pretty much everyone forgets about it after they take it in high school) but zoomers are known for being pretty dumb. This is the first generation in history where literacy and math skill levels have actually gone DOWN.
