quote:nt ben to either of these but ill check them out.... and just cause you say 2 places that could be good, doesnt make the BR tex mex scene much better. It still sucks pretty bad.
Los Reyes on Coursey
Ahuuas On Jones Creek
What was the one on Siegen that was owned by La Tendita on Academy side towards the interstate? That one was good.

“Different concepts” my arse.
A place where people go and drink is much different than a little grocery store type deal. Granted I assume the Union is only food.
But saying they’re the same due to same menu items is like saying Soji and China Wok are the same because they both have General Tso’s Chicken. They have an entirely different customer base, and frankly, it feels like an attempt to sound in the know when someone recommends La Tiendita in a conversation about where to go eat Mexican for someone’s birthday or whatever (something that has happened several times on this website).
Of course the taquerias have good food. But that doesn’t mean LSU students would prefer to go to a place way down Burbank vs. the Union. Half of them come down here without cars.
That said, LSU also has Torchys on the south side and Rock Paper Taco on the north, so I think you’ll see Zippys mostly catching between-classes kids and people on dining plans where it’s included in their TigerCash.

It's TexMex and it is average
It’s average for Louisiana but it is pretty damn shitty
It is successful for a good porch.

If you like "authentic" latin cuisine...try out La Salvaderena on Nicholson

There isn’t an argument because I’m right.
quote:it isnt. it is similar... because tex mex is similar to Mexican food.
go sit down at El Limon where you order burritos, tacos, etc, and get chip and salsa when you sit down, then tell me it’s not the same stuff lol.
How about this.... What if i tell you Al pastor is closer to Middle Eastern food than it is to Mexican food.....
