It is not like it hasn't happened before.

Some people forget 1985.

Hurricane Juan

For some historical photos of South Lafourche. Here is link to the Lafourche Gazette who earlier this year they posted a slide show of back in the day Ocotber 30, 1985. LINK

I was 4.

All I can remember was having to go home in a boat on the East side of Cut Off. The water did not flood the house we were in, but it was close. We did have some electrical issues as the water did reach some of the electrical boxes though.

We moved 3 years later and was told that the house I am in now the water barely reached our chain wall.

Yep my grandfather dug a pond at our camp. About 1.5 acre or so. He told me, it will take a while before we can stock it, so be patient. Juan filled it up the next week.

The trifecta for Lake Charles. This one won’t be as bad as Delta and certainly not Laura. Hoping it does nothing or goes somewhere else.

Legend has it that it was blown up like the Levee in the Lower 9th Ward during Katrina.

But back then the levee was still under construction and a shell of its early self. I tend to not believe that it was not blown up as you had a mix of parish levees and new construction that wasn’t finished yet. I don’t think it was even complete for Andrew, but it held unlike Terrebonne. Now it is so much more complete, I feel fairly secure.

Some people really believe that somebody blew up the levee during Katrina. When I lived in Montgomery, people told me that the levee was blown up to intentionally kill a certain segment of the population. You couldn't reason with them and they refused to believe that the levee failed near upper middle class neighborhoods. They then told me that the federal government was in on the plan to destroy a certain segment of the population. They then pointed to the fact that Jefferson Parish didn't flood because that's where the white people live. I just said whatever and walked away. You're wasting your time trying to argue with ignorant people.

For sure
One of the best systems around.
Wendell Curole and SLLD doing a fine job.
If I’d evacuate it would be about the wind, not so much the levee
