It’s one of the best streaming service no one talks about. It has everything. I don’t think people consider watching it onTV and not their phone.

there is no doubt I get my 10 bucks by going premium. i hate that the money goes to google. but at the end of the day, my time is more valuable than ten bucks a month.

I have two accounts, one I almost exclusively watch my core content and the other is what I use to watch everything else so the feed on my primary account stays chaste.

I really like their history/science sleep programs. The ones designed so you can just listen to and fall asleep.

But the ads would change the vibe so I signed up for free trial. During the trial I tried to explore as much as possible….haven’t looked back. I’m hooked.

You know you can click the 3dots next to the video and mark “not interested” and the video will be removed from your recommendations. You can even tell why you’re not interested and remove the recommended channel from appearing in your list from now on.

Idk man. I feel like the algo is so good that it'll suggest things that it knows I'll enjoy, but doesn't spam me with that "new" interest just because I watched one video

Can't you hit "not interested" for a recommended video?

Not only is it the same shite over and over it's often stuff that's several months to several years old that isn't relevant to anything happening now. Like who gives a shite about breaking down a CFB week from 2022?

I get that you can click not interested but I still shouldn't have to keep clearing stuff out daily when all I'm trying to do is find the right damn episode of Handyman Hal or Numberblocks for my toddler.

I sometimes use the DuckDuckGo browser and when I click on a YouTube link in TD, it defaults to the "Duck Player."

I wonder if that fits into the algorithm as well.

Their search function is horrible. Videos show up completely unrelated to the search.

The ads during videos have become unberable
Of all the bullshite streaming services I pay for, YouTube premium is the only one that is money well spent.

I have a music Playlist with 1500+ live music videos that I'll play for the kids, when we're hosting a party, etc., and I can play the music without any ads; plus I have children who watch their shows on there and I don't have to worry about the inappropriate ads that'll pop up in between a Bluey show and rush to the remote to skip it. That shite gets old, quick.

I've rented the last few movies off of there instead of Amazon (dropped prime, it's of no use in bumfrick Egypt), and have just about gone to YouTube exclusively for that purpose too. They have some really hard to find documentaries and movies that are unavailable on any of the big streaming platforms without a subscription.

The ads were horrible, so I pulled the trigger on premium, and my algorithm is just fine. It's probably another ruse by Google to get you to buy premium. YT is on our TV 70% of the time with the kids, so it has been money well spent. I really don't know why more people don't buy YT premium streaming when they spend it on everything else, other than habit and remembering the old days when none of the shite applied to YT.

Agreed with YT premium. The ads were messing with my sleepy science and sleepy history vids.

A lot of of subs do the in-video ads now, but at least it's their voice so there isn't a disturbance.
