It was the right call for the following reasons:
1. Don’t start no shite, won’t be no shite. frick those cruel arse Japs. I hate it for the civilians, but when you blindly worship officials who want to conquer the world, this is a risk you are taking.
2. Other options would have resulted in more deaths, both American and Japanese.
3. Russia is watching. If we don’t flex the guns when given that opportunity, the Cold War could have been very different.

We dropped the bomb to keep the Soviets from a land grab.

Many TD posters tapping at their keyboards would simply not exist if Truman had not dropped the bomb. I am likely one of those.
Thanks, Harry!

Curtis Le MF May would have relentlessly firebombed the mainland of Japan causing many more casualties then LB and FM did.

That is true. An invasion was expected to cost us up to one million American casualties. The War Department had so many Purple Hearts in stock in anticipation of Operation Downfall (that ended up not being used) that they were still giving out WWII vintage ones during the First Gulf War.
People need to remember that the Japanese of 1945 are not the same as the Japanese of 2018. One of the big reasons why they are so pacifist today is because for the first time in their history, a foreign power had utterly and completely defeated them. They were humbled with extreme prejudice.
