re: You're 18-25 - prime partying age - what era do you choose? 60s/70s/80s/90s?

When MDMA was legal, the pussy was flying out of the East Texas nightclubs. I was too old and married.

It would have been cool to arrive in Laurel Canyon before David Crosby’s BO wreaked up the place. Surf to some beach boys. Trip balls with Gram Parsons at Joshua Tree. Lucky to make it out of that era alive.

90s what just about the right speed. Drinking age was at least ambiguously 18 in Louisiana right up until I turned 21. New Orleans was a lot of fun. Cool music scene with hair bands, punk and grunge all colliding. We hit everything from dive and punk bars, to head banging at the Rusty Nail, to the LSU and NO mainstays to crazy European night clubs. I lived in Silicon Valley a summer during early tech boom days. San Francisco was fun. East Village in New York. 90s was like a slightly more enlightened 80s when it came to partying.

Was a young kid in the 90s, would have loved to be 10 years older and gotten to experience the grunge, metal,, and raves from that time.

Late 80’s to mid-90’s. From personal experience, it was pretty freakin hard core.

I don’t think many people around from the fifties. That was much more of a free time. Not the crazy party stuff, but cars and cruising, birth of rock n roll.
Wars were over and people were learning how to enjoy being in a free world.
Oh I am not that old. But I bet it was great.

90s were fun.
I'd like to live the 70s though.

Same. I think alot of us 90's teenagers who watched Dazed & Confused were this way.

raves from that time

It may sound corny, but raves at that time you would meet the most over the top polite, courteous, & helpful people on earth. An awkward teenager could go to a rave & have 20 friends at the end of the night. It was an awesome way to meet nice people who were willing to make friends with anyone.

1960s or 1970s. I love the look of women from those decades.

was there really a more relaxed view on drugs? I feel like the penalties for drugs were way harsher back then

If you want the most relaxed view on drugs and partying then the answer is the 2010s

Pre-fent coke/molly, legal weed in many states, people were warming up to casual shroom usage

Pop and rock Music sucked but pitbull type club banger music isn’t bad to get hammered too

Legal drinking age was 18 in Louisiana during the 80's. There was a club in bossier that had nickel beer night. You got a plastic glass and get it filled for a nickel. Me and my friends would go to the bartender with 10 of those mugs each and get them filled for .50 cents.

Was at lsu 88-94, and have a hard time thinking any stretch could have been better. It’s insane the amount of parties, concerts and festivals I went to. Seemed normal then, but looking back I’m not sure how I came out of it somewhat of a functional human.

All you baws saying 60s/70s are you forgetting Vietnam? How you gonna party when Charlie Don’t Surf? The 80s seem like the best time for experiencing American culture. The 90s seem like the best time for advancements in technologies that previously existed but weren’t quite accessible yet.

Call me psycho but I want the 40s. I’ve glamorized WW2 way too much but there was never a greater life lived than those Americans that were 18 in 1942. They are immortal and took the journey of a lifetime.
