My daughter is in all AP classes as a Freshman. She very rarely has homework other than studying for tests. She has a free period towards the end of the day in which she does it. She is really good at time management.

Some of the amounts of homework for elementary kids I have seen lately is crazy. I can get it being an issue at that age.

Middle school and up? Nah......you better be getting your kid ready for college where most of the work is "homework".

People who were lazy losers in school grew up to be lazy losers as adults.

It’s not just your kid. Now throw in a hood rat and a special ed kid in the mix of the class and see how the teacher is supposed to get anything accomplished during the day.

I feel pretty lucky. My kids go to a top 10 ISD in all of Texas and in 7th grade, and they've never had actual assigned homework that takes them more than 10 minuets to do.

How is that possible? I had at least 3 hours of homework per night starting in 7th grade and in high school I probably had 6-7 hours each night, some days it was closer to 8 hours.

Who is going to have that skill mastered and who is going to have a learning disability by fourth grade?

Who sends their kid to school unable to read? Mine could read by the time they went to kinder. Sure, you can blame the school once they’re there, but if you don’t send them at the level you expect them to be I’ve got no answers for you.

It starts with parents. Most parents of failing kids blame the teacher yet never get involve. Usually that kid is distracting everyone else in class preventing them from fully learning.

If life skills and family time matter so much, then homeschool them

In high school I had practice till the coaches said that was enough - no limits from Lhsaa
Would get home at around 7 and do homework till 10-11 at night
No breaks from teachers next day

My kids only have homework if they don’t work efficiently at school….8th & 6th grade

Correct. If your kid has 3 hours of homework they did zero work all day in school. You think teachers are plotting against family time showing up in the morning aroused to grade 3 hours of your dumb arse kids X 25 students everyday? The kids with shite loads of homework are a product of the retard parent posting the shite from the OP. The circle of lifeeeeeeee

I mostly agree with it. My wife works in a public school system and I hear more than enough to know that she and her colleagues are highly focused on anything and everything but academics. They love shite like Title IX because it generates mindless "mandatory" work that isn't teaching children confusing things like fractions and grammar.

If they'd put the focus back where it belongs they wouldn't need to assign homework.

what exactly do you need your kid competing for nationally? Honest question?

The real question is what school aged children are sleeping 12 hours a day. This person isn't helping with homework because they cannot do math.

Once America decided that education was a government problem, it leaped off the cliff and we got what we have now.
