A guy I knew back in the early 70's who was an exchange student from S. America would often break out a Vick's Formula 44 bottle with a liquid that looked just like the stuff, but it was concentrated mushroom infused liquid that would knock your socks off in a N.Y. second.
Most of the time we just did them brewed in tea with a lot of sugar to try to mask the taste.
