Maybe that’s petty but damn it makes me smile.
It’s not petty, it shows what determination and perseverance gets you while her looking for the easy and quick ‘win’ was the worst decision sh ever made. Not petty, it’s pay back even if it was indirectly.. Smile, you deserve it.

Remember playing a cassette or vinyl and having to listen to every song? And in that process those other songs become important later on?
It was very much that way for me with tv back in the day too. It was a lock that when any holiday specials, the yearly showing of The Wizard Of Oz, or something major like Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park was going to be on, my butt is going to be planted near a tv.

happiest time of my life. I was still in the early honeymoon phase with the girl who would later become my ex-wife.
Now if you lose your one and only
There's always room here for the lonely
To watch your broken dreams
Dance in and out of the beams
Of a neon moon

10 years ago I was in back alleys of Baton Rouge sucking dick to pay for my gambling habits. Life was so much better back then than it is now

Very very true. That’s how you ended up loving the entire album. Made the album more of an ‘experience’ than just a few random songs. Great comment.

It was a simpler time.

2011: Oldest kid was 8; youngest was 3. Busting my arse and getting by.
2021: Oldest kid in college. Youngest in 8th grade. Better off financially. Not busting my arse as much. Situation improved by leaps and bounds under Trump. Who the hell knows know with President frickhead.

But if you love skinny jeans

I think I missed the JNCO era by a few years. Seems like those were popular when I was in college or something like that.

And feeling like they were cooler if their skirts were more inches than everyone else's.
So they'd be walking around with muddy, wet or dirty bottoms of their pants. Also they'd rip up from constant ground contact and just looked trashy

Me too but it's a tough call. It seems like this skinny jean fad has lasted longer than JNCOs, bell bottoms, and parachute pants combined.

2011:
Working at my first school. Year 4. Miserable. Constantly exploring new career paths and daydreaming about other lives I could have lived. Stuck in a house I didn’t want because the 2008 housing crisis killed its value. Questioning my self worth. Beta male. Life was full of covert contracts and perpetually frustrated with my wife. Starfish sex once a week if I pouted enough. Couldn’t run a mile. Couldn’t bench 135 more than 5 times. Wardrobe was mostly the same as I had in college with a few cheap polo shirts my parents gave me for work. Worst of all, I was certain Gene Chizik was destined to defeat Nick Saban once and for all and was building the next SEC powerhouse.
Damn I was pathetic.
Edit: I realize the OP is asking about the overall decade and not just 2011.
The growth I’ve experienced in the last ten years has been exponential. I would have been 27 back then and just starting to truly separate from the negative influences of my childhood. I discovered my interests, utilized my talents, developed my skills, and cultivated a love of learning and taking risks. I fricked up bad along the way, but each mistake was a learning experience that vaulted me forward in my path to self-actualizing.
I can’t truly describe how different I am today versus 2011. The journey is too full. It’ll be a valuable memoir that maybe my kids will be interested in. Maybe not. Maybe it’s just for me.
But I just hope everyone here can understand that no matter where you are today, you can become a completely different and better person in a relatively short amount of time.

the last 5 years dwarfs the growth I’ve made in the 40 before that. Maturity, financial, content ness, career, everything. I’m definitely a late bloomer.
Sounds like you’re right on schedule to me.
