War - not a tough decision between the two (especially with the prison time being much longer) - at least for me.

I'd chose war. Could just as easily be killed in prison. I think I'd have a better fighting chance of survival with the US military at my side

Yeah, but you're not in an U.S. POW camp. You are fighting China or North Korea, some country who has no care for human rights.
