You guys with a beard, what are your answers to these questions:

1. Have you found a barber that is able to shape and trim your beard the way you want or do you do it yourself?

2. Do you apply beard wax or balm to your beard? How often?

3. Do you apply beard oil over the wax or balm? Or just use the oil without the wax?

4. Do you wash your beard with beard shampoo or use regular hair shampoo?

5. After applying wax, balm or oil how long do you spend brushing your beard?

6. If you use any of these products, what brand do you prefer?

TIA for any responses......I will put mine in the next post

1. Have you found a barber that is able to shape and trim your beard the way you want or do you do it yourself?

I have yet to find someone that I feel is able to do a good job in trimming my beard. Last place I went to was The Rooster Club in NOLA. The guy did a good job, but I felt like he trimmed too much

2. Do you apply beard wax or balm to your beard? How often?

I use beard balm before going to bed and I use beard wax every morning

3. Do you apply beard oil over the wax or balm? Or just use the oil without the wax?

I am probably doing it wrong but I apply oil over both the wax and balm

4. Do you wash your beard with beard shampoo or use regular hair shampoo?

I heard regular shampoo dries out the beard so I have been using beard shampoo

5. After applying wax, balm or oil how long do you spend brushing your beard?

I usually brush my beard after applying products for 2-3 minutes

6. If you use any of these products, what brand do you prefer?

I stared using seven potions from the UK, but have been trying to find a combination whiskey/wood scent from different companies and I am still looking

I have a pretty large beard.

The answer to most of your questions is no.

I just use conditioner on it when I shower.

I trim it myself

As its gotten longer I've noticed that moisturizer is needed for the skin.. but for the most part I really don't over think it.

Get some good trimmers and play with it..

What in the blue frick is this? Applying oils and balms to your beard? Why don't you go rub some avocados in it to give it that extra shine, you frickin' fanook!

I assume this is some odd troll attempt.

But I'm taking a work break, so I'll bite.

In nearly 25 years of bearding, I have never done any of that shite, with the sole exception of the occasional shampoo with suds from my head hair.

Maintenance consists of a Whal Peanut with no guard, for the neck and upper cheeks. And the occasional 2-to-4 guard trim, if it's looking crazy and I have to appear at least moderately respectable.

In hot and humid weather, I'll often shave it down to stubble with the Peanut and start over. Every couple weeks.

If you have to ask all those questions, then maybe you should stick to a soul patch or less.

Basically you are using the wahl peanut to take care of the straglers? When you set the trim at 2-4 you don’t find your cut is really low?

Yep, it's low. I don't do the crazy hipster beard.

Unless I just let it go during camping/river/ski season out west, like right now, this is about as long as I keep it (random pic):

This is usually max:

1. Both, sometimes I need a touch up between haircuts.

2-3. No beard wax or balms.

4. Dove shampoo, and every few days use whatever conditioner my wife uses.

5-6. I do not use beard products. I’m not a hipster.

When growing it out I still have it trimmed a little just to keep it soft. I’ve never used any beard products and have never had any complaints with it being too picky, etc.
