Mine was much simpler, no DNA.
My Father had an older half brother from his Mother's first husband. He was never mentioned. All the other siblings (sisters) and my Father exchanged long news filled cards and other letters.
It was only when my paternal Grandmother died that the half brother appeared in the group photo. When he died a year or two later, Father rushed out to his funeral (not in the state where the family had lived.
Only after Father's death did I find out the half brothers both died from a similar cancer.
At a recent family reunion, no one mentioned that Uncle or his family.

I have one extended family member with a similar story. The father who didn't know about a daughter was a World War 2 veteran. While serving in Europe he had a brief relationship with a woman.
The daughter wasn't discovered until shortly after the veteran died. Surprisingly the daughter and children of his later marriage are now close. It doesn't always work out that well.

At some point she will be glad to know the truth. Give it time.

I won't do those DNA test things b/c i don't want to give up any murderers that may be in my family

I had an uncle (by marriage, my mom’s sister’s husband) find out he has a daughter he was unaware of.
When he got back from Viet Nam, he had a brief fling.
He learned of the daughter just a few years ago. She’s in her fifties now and had been looking for him her whole life.

A friend of mine found out she had a half sister in another state. No way I'm doing one of those tests.
