I'm with you bro on electric but you can't tell me that a new battery being on the horizon isn't affecting resale value. Just because you aren't the one buying the battery doesn't mean it’s not coming out of your pocket too.

The good news is the prospective buyer can check battery health right on the dash. No need to trust the sales bro that swears it’s all highway miles.

You seriously made a post about the impracticality about ICE vehicles that just contained dipshits being dipshits?

You have to purchase a lot of things in public don’t you? These same dipshits are there too.

I mean… this has to be one of the weakest “gotcha” posts I have ever seen. And that’s saying something.

Next time I’m in town. Btw I assume you have a vette. My dad is part of a vette crew on the south shore. Him and his buddy’s have 3 mid 70s models and they call themselves the 3 amigoas because they all look the same.

I'd be hard-pressed to buy a used vehicle knowing I'm having to replace the engine with a brand-new factory engine - unless that cost was factored in to the sale.

You roll the dice on any used vehicle out of warranty. If anything, any EV is superior because the available health data is light years ahead of anything an ice vehicle can provide.

This is not true at all. However, if you can't accurately judge the health of an ICE engine - especially with today's diagnostics and available vehicle history data then yes a previously owned vehicle is a roll of the dice.

It'll be interesting to see what develops for used EV's because right now it's not looking good.

It is 100% true. But if you feel better paying for a PPI with a comp check and leak down then go for it. An EV can be checked on the dash board.

One would think it to be much easier to diagnose the health of an EV since it has infinitely fewer moving parts to go bad.

I do, but it's a track car.

Hit me up, and we'll grab a lunch.

Still, the reality is that gas stations are shitholes. Not clean. Not terribly safe. You have to listen to some jackass with his no-talent hip hop rattling the entire place, get a contact high from 2nd hand skunk weed, etc.

Things I can tolerate for three minutes every nine days.

A relative out west has 4 Teslas and he doesn’t seem to have any charging issues at home. His chargers have been integrated into his home’s power grid and they charge at preset intervals throughout the night.

So he is using the equivalent of 4 ovens cooking a thanksgiving dinner at his house every night. I have nothing against them, have though seriously about buying one until I regained consciousness after seeing the price but one will make your meter fly off the wall. I am sure its more affordable than buying gas but not by much.

Did some quick reading and Consumer Reports says the savings in fuel costs for the average EV owner who charges 75% of the time at home will be somewhere between $800 and $1200 a year for a similar model gas vehicle. That ain't a helluva lot of money considering the initial costs are about 20% more than a comparable gas model.

By all reports the environmental impact of EVs thus far is negligible or, according to some studies, worse for the EV. ALL of the claims to the contrary refuse to consider the entire environmental impact and focus only on that $1200 a year in fuel savings. Time will tell but its hard to imagine that we have solved the mystery of energy alchemy and have done so at the behest of the federal government and companies that have existed a long time having failed to solve it for many years.

Right now the resell values are impressive but I would not bet they stay that way. They may but they are technologically heavy and tech advances will mean newer models are less expensive and more efficient than existing models. Anyone old enough to remember any emerging tech will know it is always far cheaper next year than it is this year....calulators, VCRs, PCs....

You’re experiencing tunnel vision. The tunnel is your ideology.

Let me tell you something, I work at a business that is located across the street from a large urban park. We have 3 charging stations with signs that indicate you must have a parking permit to use them.

Despite that, people who use the park will frequently fight over the e/v charging spots.

“You’ve been on the charger for two hours!”.
“What does that have to do with anything? There’s no time limit!”
“Where do you even live? This company lets me use it (We don’t actually) because I live around the corner!”
“I come to this park every damn day! What does it matter where I live!”

People, being stupid and lazy and selfish, will always fight over limited resources to greater or lesser degrees based on variables.

If you deny this, may the Lord bless your heart!

There's an out of business Steak and Shake off I-20 west of Augusta, Georgia that has 4 chargers that are powered on and free....somehow they are fed from the old steak and shake and for whatever reasons the breakers have not been turned off. There is a group of people there 24 hours a dauy 7 days a week charging their cars. It is a pretty festive atomsphere, almost like a tail gate party. Why the property management company allows it is beyond me but it has been going on for over a year.

How old are you with those examples? You’re comparing calculators and VCR’s to literally self driving cars. And have you looked at the price of a PC lately?

Have iPhones gotten cheaper or more expensive overtime? Have ICEs gotten cheaper or more expensive overtime? there’s nothing to indicate that the price of EV’s will go down without some significant trade-offs - and Americans have demonstrated time and time again that we don’t like trade-offs.
