None of this matters. The punch wasn’t justified by whatever cause Schilling to turn around, it was justified by the aggressive jump/shoulder movement by the drunk a split second before the punches land. Totally agree. The other part is drunk boy is the only customer in the aisle between the tables and the bar blocking the space and blocking the server station at the bar. What Schilling does after is definitely over the top, but I strongly dislike drunk obnoxious attention whores making asses of themselves.

I just watched the twitter video multiple times. It wasn't even a fake punch. Drunk obnoxious guy was just doing a stupid bowing up "what are you gonna do" thing.
To answer your question though, generally, you would use a reasonable person standard, which in this case makes your roid-rage dude look even worse.
