Going with my dad next week. We are already going fly fishing one day. What are some other things I need to do while there?

Go see all the geysers, go to lower and upper falls. See Yellowstone lake. Go see all the hot springs and mud pots.

Others than that, Old Faithful Inn is a beautiful structure, there are lots of animals just cruising around to see. If you feel like leaving the park, go east to Cody and go to the Buffalo Bill museum

Ask any of the student park employees where the best sites are to see, off the beaten path, that tourists don't know about. Worked there in college & we knew all the best spots to see with no tourists around. Old Faithful is great but ask an employee how to get to the trail up a nearby mountain & you can see it erupt in virtual solitude & get a great panoramac view of the whole area. A healthy hike but well worth it. Do get off the beaten paths as much as possible as with this time of the yr, some of the more popular areas become parking lots with so many tourists around. DO NOT follow bear tracks as a Park Ranger told me, there IS a bear at the other end.

Isn't this in the Tetons. They are very much worth seeing.

Go do the Beartooth Highway while you're out there. Breathtaking views.

Make sure you see artists point in Yellowstone, and the falls.

Yellowstone lake, the Lamar valley and the Grand Canyon and amazing to see. I also recommend visiting Yellowstone Lodge at Old faithful.

The entire park is just incredible. Everybody would visit it at least once in their lifetime.

Bring a quality set of binoculars and a camera with a telephoto lens. It is so vast that you really need some serious optics to see many places.

Be careful of bears. They are everywhere.

Had one come out on me less than 10 yards away a couple of months ago up there. I've more nervous about the large number of buffalo and their proximity to the roads. Had a couple of bikers get charged this summer.

worked there two summers. if you have the time, go out northeast entrance bear tooth mountains and red lodge. Roosevelt lodge is a very nice area. another place outside the park is earthquake lake, which is out of the west entrance. there's a cool restaurant called einos (or used to be at least) where you grill your own steaks.

That is amazing drive. I did it a few years ago in July and show was piled up 10' on both sides of the road. I guess it never melts.

Watch for the bears. Also, if the water is up from the snow melt, fishing will be tuff.

People that have never been do not grasp how large it is, I stayed in the park for 7 days drove over 1000 miles never leaving the park, and did not get to see everything I had planned.

If you are going to be there for 4
or 5 days look at a Yellowstone map. The road system is roughly a figure 8. Take one day to drive each quarter. As a previous poster said, you won't see everything but you will get a good idea of how great it is.
Definitely check out the lobby of the Old Faithful Inn. The design is incredible.
Old Faithful is a well known part of the park but is just a small part of it.
Finally, while you are there just know a lot of folks are jealous as hell !

My only advice is bring a jacket. It's gonna be pretty damn cold at night. And watch out for the bison.

My family went many years ago so you can verify if this is still okay - we fished in Yellowstone Lake and caught some lake trout. We brought the fish to the restaurant at Old Faithful Inn (I think) and they cooked them for us for lunch. Incredibly fresh fish!

I did it last month and was amazed how much snow was there at the end of june. Saw a momma bear with two cubs while driving through the park. Awesome place.

I was there back at the first of June. We stayed in the cabins at canyon lodge. It's about as centrally located in the park as you can stay. I like it because it's not but about 10 minutes from the Hayden Valley. I enjoyed getting up at daylight and looking for bears, saw one catch and eat an elk calf one morning

the first summer i worked there, the lake was still frozen in june and it snowed on us july 4. i worked at the canyon lodge.

also, if you're into rodeos, there are two good ones to choose from. the one in cody, wyoming (which also has the museum of the rockies) and one in livingston, montana.
