they didn't seem to mind letting me go. I always hear people talking about great deals when they call to cancel, but they didn't offer me anything but to use their lower price, crappier packages. I did appreciate the year long customer appreciation discount. So long DirecTV.

Just got off the phone with regular CSRs. Best they could do was $20 off. Cancellation pending and was disconnected while on hold with "VIP" dept. I'm such a "VIP" the hung up on me

Looks like I'll be shutting it down on February 2...unless I get a better offer.

Thats unbelievable. Been with them over 15yrs. Since the discount ran out last month my bill is now 141 a month, no movie channels. Calling to cancel and try to weasel out a deal playing their game tomorrow.

I’ve heard the PS Vue is the way to go with streaming in regards to sports. Do you have any issues streaming games on any of the channels for college football (ESPNU/SEC Network)?

I did this yesterday- they reduced me down to like a 65 a month and a bunch of premium stuff free.

I just went through this two weeks ago. Been a customer since 2001. Every year I call to negotiate discounts and they capitulate. My discounts expired in Dec and my bill went from $70/mo. to $120/mo. Spoke with a regular CSR and she said no discounts were available at that time so I set up a cancellation two weeks out and signed up for a free trial of Direct Now. A couple of days before the cancellation I called again and asked for the loyalty dept. In about a 10 minute conversation I got my bill reduced from $120/mo to $64/mo. with that exact same programming but I did have to agree to a one-year agreement- no issues there. I think it really depends on who you speak with and definitely do not take "no" for an answer and ask to speak with the retention/loyalty dept.

Here is why I'm no longer a DTV Customer.

I had their service.

I had to move to a rental home for a bit of time while searching for a permanent place to live.

In order to install DTV at the rental, I had to get permission from the landlord. No problem!

DTV sends over a rep, he looks at the situation, states it can easily be installed. I call the landlord and we get permission to do so.

Got that. Sent it to them in writing, email, etc.

All good.

They show up again a couple days later to install the service at the rental.

Only problem is, on this visit, the installation company realizes they cannot install the service at the rental properly due to access to roof, other line, etc. Tried several ways to do it, but couldn't. Yes, this was a new group of guys. I even had the other guy's number that did the assessment, but they refused to call him.

The only way they could install it was to put the dish on a part of the roof that the owner did not want due to appearance (trying to sell the rental) as well as the inevitable holes in that area of the roof (if it leaked it would be hard to access).

Not to mention installing it at this area would also require them to run hundreds of feet of new lines in the attic. Owner didn't want that either.

So instead of working with me to come up with a plan to have the service at my eventual new home, they charged me $500 due to the inability to install it at the rental AFTER THEY SCREWED UP AND SAID THEY COULD.

Needless to say I lost my shite when I found out they were billing me for their frick up.
