Exactly.

If he would have just kept those certain regions shut, then that would be understandable. At least there would be SOME logic behind it.

Keeping the whole state shut can only be for some type of political reason outside of what is best for the people of Louisiana. Likely bailout money.

I'm a MAGA guy and I feel as if Trump has been wrong almost every step of the way during this crisis. But he's only as good as the men and women who are advising him. We should have opened back up right around Easter.

Didn’t he specifically say he wasn’t following the White House 3 phases for reopening? Louisiana would make guidelines “similar” to.

Does that justify it?

Simply because every member of a population, a population we all tend to think are absolute morons, thieves, or both, would make the same terrible decision does not mean that that was the only option available and it is ultimately an ok decision to have made.

That was, without a doubt, the absolute worst thing he could have done.

Why was the President downplaying this back in February?
In early/mid February, because most people were, including his advisors.

I love woke scruffy.

This new narrative of trump doing what every other politician would do is hilarious in the face of the same people voting him in because he was supposed to be different than every other politician.

Ibdint know if it justifies it, but if nobody would have acted differently, then it's not much of a screw up, it's par for the course.

Trump guidelines came out 2 weeks ago. At that time Louisiana hit the numbers (14 day downward trajectory of new cases) to enter phase one.

What is the hold up?

Agreed. Trump was supposed to stand up to the pressures from the media and the left.

The shutdown until April 12th was not the absolute worst thing. He should have never extended the guidelines past then. States that wanted to be open for business on April 13th should have done so with the support of the federal government.

It takes a real man to criticize their own party. Both sides are so reluctant to criticize their own or to praise the other side.

This is now a federal money grab to cover the loss in oil revenue and to pay for the Morial Convention Center covid ward, the demolition of the hard rock, and anything and everything they can fleece federal tax payers to pay for.

It is literally the opposite of why I even liked a lot of what he has done.

And I don’t know if it is being “woke” or not, but it is at least holding to some principles.

What happened to everyone being pissed about debt?

Obama’s stimulus package was less than half of what they have spent so far, and they aren’t done.

My favorite, though, is everyone asking how the literal nursing home demented Joe Biden would have done better.

It isn’t a good situation to be in when your only defense is “he is better than the guy with dementia”.

Hillary didn't win. Stop melting about her.

Trump was elected because y'all said he would drain the swamp. He wasn't a normal politician!

Yet here you are defending him for being a normal politician.
