Eye for an Eye Match

See, doing these gimmicky, theatrical matches due to COVID was okay until they did this shite. The only way this makes sense is to have some screwy ending where no one loses an eye, or the guy who loses an eye is done with the company. Otherwise, this is worse than the "McMahon Murder Mystery" storyline, because you can't walk it back. You can have McMahon not be in the limo, but you can't have a guy that "loses an eye" all of a sudden have that eye back.

I’m going to make this easy for the points.

For all of the non-Swamp matches (Bray vs. Braun), there will be 15 points awarded for selecting the victor, 5 points bonus for method of victory.

For the Swamp Match. It will be 20 and 10.

If they add any matches that aren’t currently listed in the OP before the PPV show starts, I’ll do 10/5. If it’s added once the PPV starts then no points awarded.

WWE is essentially stretching out Extreme Rules all week long

we have Orton/Big Show in a non-sanctioned match on Raw

and on Smackdown we have the SD Tag Title match in a tables match between New Day & Cesaro/Nakamura... and the Bar Fight between Jeff Hardy & Sheamus

No doubt...but I think someone mentioned this in a Monday or Wednesday thread....Raw and SD need some serious fresh faces....some fresh faces that could make an instant impact...some undisputed fresh faces!!

The creative is not.

No doubt...BUT it's not just WWE here....AEW has gone to shite. I mean other than his time in WWE when they knew he was leaving name another 6 month period in WWE where Mox's stuff was as bad as it is in AEW right now....I mean did he stop caring about his creative when he got out of WWE. The Elite has been turned into a group that should be call "The Clowns".....they put focus on a dude whose gimmick is twerking in the ring....they immediately put freaking Brian Cage in a top spot which is unbelievable from a company who touts that they are about the sport...about the wrasslin. Creative is at an all time low across the business during the Pandemic....and obviously not having a live audience has a lot to do with it.

Can we change the method of victory when we learn more about the match?

Although I'm certain this one won't be pinfall or submission...I put pinfall just because....

I’ll ask the question........is Impact worth talking about on Tuesday nights?

They put their absolute best foot forward last night.

The thing with the eye and Rey is that he can just cover it with the mask and you'll never know....just like he is doing right now.....the other thing is it is possible Rey isn't long for WWE anymore.

BUT I will admit I agree that the eye for an eye thing is campy and I said the same when Mox and Ortiz did it in AEW a couple months back....it is dumb and I'm not sure why Vince copied it.

Before last night probably not.

Indeed my interest has been aroused to see what happens with the Good Bros, Eric Young, and especially EC3....also putting the title on Deonna Purrazo was an incredible move.

it is rumored that Rey is working on good faith and not a contract at the moment

Honestly the more I think about it Vince probably decided to do it because he thought it could be portrayed as more real with Rey's mask.

"Haa we can take Rey's eyeball and make it REALLLLLL PAL!!! HAHA!!"

Just sounds like some dumb thing Vince would say....I bet Rey loses tonight and he loses the next bunch of matches because he only has one eye...and then rides off into the sunset wherever that may lead....stupid

Unless they decide to do something with Dominick and Rollins at Summerslam.

last night really was a hard reset for IMPACT... esp. when you consider that they lost 4 of their top stars just over the last few weeks... including their World Champion (thus why the title was vacant up to last night)

it definitely got a needed shot in the arm last night

ETA: let's not forget... Miro/Rusev is still out there lurking... if he is in fact signed with IMPACT... once he's cleared from the virus he could be immediately thrust into the World Title picture and that would make IMPACT very interesting indeed

which Rey screwed up by sitting at his computer camera at the wrong angle which allowed light in through the blinder and showed that Rey's eye was perfectly fine

reportedly the whole reason Rey is with WWE currently to start with is b/c he wants to get Dominick in the best spot possible for a wrestling career

I mean I guess I get progressiveness (ok no I don't) but that's what they get for putting the top men's title on a woman.

I leave method of victory up to y’all to pick. Doesn’t have to be a traditional means.

Same thing with victories in general. If you believe a match will end with no victor due to double countout or double dq, you are free to pick that as your outcome.

So "Bray disappears into the Swamp" is valid?

The Purrazzo- Grace match is worth watching in my opinion.

Here it is.

I was surprised to hear that Big Daddy Dave Meltzer was not a big fan of this match

AEW's booking has been pretty bad lately. They are rushing guys like Brodie Lee and Brian Cage straight to a title match just because they're new. Cage deserves to be at the top anyway and Taz's promos have been great but at least build him up a little. Do more than just have him beat up nobodies on Dark.

They have completely killed Lance Archer since Cody beat him. He should be one of your top heels but they've done nothing with him lately. Janela got way too much offense in on him in their match. No man in that company, including Nyla Rose, should be selling for Marko especially a monster like Archer.

They almost have too much talent right now. There's only two hours of tv a week plus an hour of Dark and most of that show is QT's students jobbing to people with names. I'm expecting Zack Ryder at least to come in soon but he's not gonna make a difference. I can see Rusev waiting a while to sign somewhere but he would be a boost if he comes to AEW.

Yea I thought it was pretty good myself.....it's the best women's wrasslin I've seen outside of NXT in a good while.....certainly since Lynch went out.

Sounds like a pretty good take in my estimation....obviously AEW has a lot of equity with their fans simply because they've been so alienated by WWE (but what they want WWE will probably never give again) but I can't imagine they'll stand for this booking for years.....BUT I'm giving pretty much every company a pass until fans come back ...it will get better then.....let's just hope they are saving all their best stuff for that time.

friendly reminder that AEW still has the "Blood & Guts" match still available to them... a match they were heavily promoting right when the shutdown began
