An absent champion on a show that is already struggling as far as stories...
Made total sense.
But I guess as far as business sense, your biggest show of the year, the company wants to put mainstream names on the pedestal for casual fans since there aren't many enormous names that would attract tons of advertising and mainstream news sources. Like it or not, ESPN tweeted out last night that Goldberg won the title. If Owens wins last night, I doubt seriously they'd be mentioning the PPV

I knew Mick was going out but I hadn't heard of a replacement. That would be pretty awesome if so.
