I've always had a dog, since I was about 3 years old.

I currently have a Boxer - Pit mix that I adopted while volunteering at the shelter. I've had her since she was 3 moths old, and now she is almost 1 year. She is a beautiful brindle color, and mostly favors the Boxer side @ about 63 pounds. She is extremely intelligent, and was super easy to train. She is protective, but well mannered and acts like a big baby.

You can call me trashy, but you don't know me from Adam.

Thats my exact point. And you proved it for me. Your stupid policy wouldn't do shite.

Thanks for proving you are too dumb to think.

Imagine deciding you want to get a dog and deciding on a pitbull

That wasn’t my question. Does your homeowner’s policy cover you if your pit bull bites somebody?

I said, yes. You want information I’m not posting.

If you keep going through life judging books by their covers and not being able to look past the surface level you aren't likely to find as much joy and fulfillment from it as being open-minded and looking at the big picture. You are literally calling me a trashy person for nothing more than helping out by adopting a dog and giving it a good home. It is okay to disagree with the decision to adopt a pitbull, but the automatic label of trashy or lesser than you is incredibly ignorant
Okay, this was a well thought out and written post. Thank you. I’m reacting to the other idiot that keeps calling others ignorant because we’ve read and seen pits attacking people and dogs. Experience is not anecdotal evidence.

The “pitbull problem” is only getting worse, and unfortunately people like yourself, regardless of your good intentions are not helping the matter. Yes, your pits might be great dogs, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that many many pits are dangerous fricking animals to humans and other dogs. I wrote the original post because I’m literally shocked by the number of pits and pit mixes in shelters. It’s fricking sad, and can be prevented. I’m a dog lover, but I regrettably have no love for the breed. I find them ugly and aggressive. I guess I’m a pitbull racist.

he shocking thing I noticed on most adoption websites is the ridiculous amount of pitbulls, pitbull mixes, and “terrier mixes” (basically a pitbull mix that they don’t want to say is a pitbull mix). Probably 75% of the dogs up for adoption are goddamn pits or pit mixes.

It's been like this for at least a decade. We wanted to adopt but would not consider any pit or pit mix.

most dog owners in general dont give two shits about training and disciplining their pets. I'm talking not saying anything when the dog jumps on guests all the time. To them their pet can do no wrong. Instead they should be smacking that dog upside the head.

Is it some sort of right of passage for a couple to get a dog together or a "county boy" to get himself a lab

What the frick are you talking about you idiot?

How is a policy of forcing dog owners to spay and neuter their dogs the same as requiring adopted dogs to be spayed and neutered? I’m all for adopted dogs to be spayed and neutered. The heart of the problem is irresponsible morons letting their mutts get pregnant in the first place.

If we can mandate vaccinations for dogs, we can mandate spay and neuter. Who would have a problem with this?

Because it's not enforceable. Jesus. It's not rocket surgery.

I'll play along. No thank you I'm not going to spay or neuter my pet. I'm purchasing it to breed.

How is it not enforceable? We enforce vaccinations of pets. Same thing.

So you only want large operations pumping out thousands of pets at a time?

What is a pet breeding license. Please explain? Just another tax to keep small breeders down and prop up the pet chain puppy mills.

You really didn't think this through at all.
