WTF does this mean or represent?

I've seen this on more then one occasion.
A mask of some sort hanging from the rear view mirror inside your truck or car. I've noticed a Jason mask just hanging while their driving. I've noticed a white guy and black guy with them hanging this mourning.
Just wondering if this was a gang thing or some type of trend I don't know about?

How about the guys that not look like they have a nascar vehicle. They have sponsors all over it. Normally go along with the Jason mask
