Many New York nursing homes and hospitals are organized by unions, which use their political clout to drive generous pay and benefits.

Probably could sum up a lot of the issues right here for both new York and Illinois

Scott came to office means we don't have an "unemployment" problem to deal with, anyway.

That's what I was thinking...

DeSantis has done a phenomenal job.

I was no fan when he came in...I lean a little blue. But he has gained my respect and unless something odd happens he'll get my vote next term.

See boys and girls...its ok to have an open mind.

Ask the people in Florida who dealing with a dysfunctional unemployment system how they feel about Desantis and Scott.

FL over the past 10 years has had some of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation. Our UE System was never designed to handle 4 million people becoming unemployed overnight.

I’m in a similar boat in that he was running on a platform that might adversely affect my industry. But DeSantis has been phenomenal during the pandemic.

Dear god man. Read more.

New York gives the federal government way more than it receives back.

Based on 2018 data, New York paid in US$22 billion more than it received.

Florida isn't bailing out shite.

Should I point out that Florida has a Republican governor and both houses of the state legislature is also GOP? I'm sure the fact that New York is controlled by Democrats is just a coincidence.

To be fair, Jindal created a significant deficit for Louisiana and JBE has fixed the budget and created a surplus.

Both parties have been guilty of crazy spending with budgets that don't work at times

Democrats want a $915 billion budget bailout for states and cities, and the leading lobbyist is New York Governor Andrew Cuomo

Cuomo is the one who called trump a racist Nazi for his travel ban and urged everyone to go hug a Chinese person and then after all the facts came out forced nursing homes to keep Covid patients right?

I would be interested to see that figure if you take out the Social Security and Medicare mandated payments for both states.
Still think New York would come out ahead ?

And Covid 19 and the state economy in the shitter has eliminated any advantage JBE thought he had with the budget.

Hell, that's why he tried to extend the shutdown order to get as much federal dollars as he can.

It's amazing people like you think you can tax and spend your way out of a budget crisis.

Correct, except I think it was a leader in Italy who said hug a Chinese person, but I wouldn't be surprised if Cuomo or De Blasio said something similar

I only said JBE balancing the budget prior to covid after Jindal fricked it for years as an example of reckless spending not being specific to one party. Didn't comment on anything else, just that both parties can spend recklessly at times.

If the government raised taxes and cut spending you don't think they'd fix any budget issues?

I don’t consider raising taxes fixing anything

JBE raising taxes has made sure we have no healthy, and competitive economy in this state and actually has chased jobs and companies out of Louisiana. Not only that, those taxes actually hurt the poor and the middle class.

The biggest problem as to why Louisiana cannot grow its economy is because of the state's shitty legal climate and anti business tax code.

Granted those are just two problems and there's many more but those are the two biggest right now.

You fix the budget problems by growing your way out of it, not tax and spend.

JBE has raised taxes b 7-10 billion and we still have the same shite government and virtually no competitive economy at all to show for it.
