My wife works nights. Anytime she's had to do more than 3 shifts in a row, she's basically useless during daytime hours. Not to mention that on her days of after that, she has to adjust back to a "regular" schedule I would not work 5 nights a week for double the salary. I'd miss way too much family time.

If you have kids you are going to be a completely miserable person or a machine

Leave for work at 9:30 pm

Work from 10pm-6am (weird how the OP has an 8 hour block and not 9, but Ill play along)

Get home at 6:30am

See your kids for 30 minutes or so

They go to school

Unwind from 7:30am-10 am

Sleep from 10 am- 6pm

Play with the kids from 6-8

8pm start getting ready for work

Leave again for work at 9pm

That is machines life right there, and we havent even got to the weekend yet

Bingo. I have seen it done on a 3 day schedule, without any kids, and that seemed difficult enough.

5 days with kids, 99% of people will break

If i was single...sure.

But let me warn y’all fellas with a lady...Jody loves a man who isn’t home at night to keep that thing warm.

Shift work, and the amount of it i did, and how I dealt with the switchback, contributed to the downfall of my marriage.

sleep from 8 am to 4 pm

play with kids/wife from 4 pm to 9 pm

and besides, my weekday schedule right now is basically like a machine anyways

the weekends would obviously be something you would have to work at, but I think I could make it work

I jsut dont realistically think you are going to be able to fall asleep that quickly after getting off work

That would be me falling asleep at 7pm right now

I work at night a few times per month. It really messes you up going from days to nights.

just dont see how that is possible One has to decompress. I couldnt possibly fall asleep right now at 5:30pm.....

When I worked nights I was tired once I got off work. You have to remember you are fighting to stay awake when your body is naturally wanting to sleep. I had no issues going to sleep as soon as I got home. I would eat breakfast at work about an hour or so before I got off at 7 so I could just pass out once I got ready for bed.

Again....I did this for 16 years. Granted though...it was 3 12s. So I still had 4 days off a week.

I had to get off nights cause I was falling asleep while driving home from work.

But could I do nights again for a year or so to make double the $$$$ to pay off debts..::yes I could.

You find ways to work around it. I was on a day schedule on my days off.

My first day off after working nights I would just nap for a couple hours during the day so I was tired by nighttime and then I was back on a day schedule. Night before I had to go back to nights I made myself stay up till 3 or so that night and slept till noon or so so that I could stay up all night.
