I dont really think thats the case here. As a parent you know they will be subjected to shite you dont approve of so you try to guide them in the direction of becoming a productive member of society. When thry are at school, they might be around shite you dont approve of but its "typically" to a certain degree. Once you go to a concert filled with people who can do whtevsr the hell they want bc they typically don't care about anything around them, then thats something as a parent I dont want them subjected to as long as I can help it. They have to go to school, but they dont have to go to a hip hop concert.

When I was that age my parents allowed me to go to rock concerts by myself. At some point you have to let the reigns down and let teenagers make up their own opinions about stuff like this. Even with crappy "music" like drake. Trying to forbid stuff just increases the appeal and kills any open dialogue that you might have.

I'd probably take him. If he wants to go to his concert then he has already heard his music so its not like he will be exposed to anything that he has never been exposed to.

If anything, just for the experience. He might go to the concert and it not live up to his expectations or it might inspire him to do something else... You never know, as long as he is exposed to all different types of music.

When I was in 5th grade my mom took me to a Poison concert. They came out on stage rocking with one of their popular songs then Bret Michaels grabs the mic and screams "BATON MOTHERfrickING ROUGE!" and my mom's jaw dropped..lol

The OP asked whether we would TAKE our 15 yr old to Drake concert, not whether we forbid him from listening or even going with someone else. I wouldn't take him bc I don't want to sit through that.

I was about to say, we were going to concert alone by 15. I went a ton when i was 17/18 as junior and senior in High school.

Not Rap but Drake is probably a pretty friendly crowd. I bet it is also a great place for 15 year old to chase high school pussy; much like dave mathews was, I didn't go to dave mathews cause I like his music.

15 is a little young for that scene. If he was 16, I'd probably take a group of his friends to the concert and drop off/pick up.

The implication is being allowed to attend the concert. Pretty clearly the point. The implication is also requiring your 15 year old to be accompanied by an adult in order to attend. I would let my hypothetical child go with friends. I ain't sitting through that shite either.

So hip hop concerts are the only concerts that are "filled with people who can do whatever the hell they want because they typically don't care about anything around them"?

Would you be okay if your son wanted to go to a rock concert? I don't know if I ever been to a concert where I didn't smell marijuana (oh wait.. I did go see Shania Twain. I am not a big country music fan, but I thought she was hot, someone asked me to go so I went)..

This might have been at a 311 concert or Incabus concert maybe, but I was on the floor. If you were not smoking anything, you could get high just being down there.. Anyway, a fight broke out. Don't really know what happened, but these two dudes started throwing down. Security was in the middle of breaking them up, when a one friend of one of the dudes fighting, pushed some other guy (I assume a friend of the other guy) and the dude who got pushed threw a haymaker and before the guy could get himself up, security took them away.

You would never expect this at this group's concert, but I went see third eye blind and after it was over there was a huge dilemma going on in the parking lot. The cops were all over the place. There were people who were handcuffed against police cars, a few people were being put in police cars, etc..

Went to a Juvenile concert and of all the concerts I have gone to, that one probably had the less marijuana being smoked there, there were no fights (or at least I didn't see any).. It was more like a club atmosphere where people were dancing and having a good time opposed to people in the crowd doing stupid shite causing fights, etc.

Have we really gotten to the point that the majority of people in society take every fricking thing said to be as literal as possible? Did I say that ONLY hiphop concerts are filled with people like this? No I didnt. We are only talking about a drake concert though, not rock concerts.

And did I say that everyone there is of this mindset? No I didnt. I said that there are alot of people with this mindset at hiphop concerts. Have you ever worked a hiphop concert when shite broke out bc of the crowd getting so hyped up during certain songs? I have in my younger years and its not pretty. The mindset is a bit different.

But all that is beside the point. If I dont want my child to go to a certain concert while living under my roof they will not be going. Its not my job to be their friend or be the cool dad. Theres alot of shite I was pissed about as a kid bc my parents didnt let me do and now as an adult I totally understand why.
