Mature grizzly cannot climb trees, only cubs. You are thinking of black bears.

Marlin 1895 in 45/70 is rated for bears AND dinosaurs. So give me the T-Rex Bc I’d like to see a dinosaur.

An average hunting rifle would absolutely kill a T-Rex with enough shots and we aren’t talking unreasonable amounts. What exactly do y’all think those things were made of?

“Most grizzlies can climb a tree if it has ladder-like branches, although their weight and claw structure prevents them from climbing as efficiently as black bears.“

you aint killing it with pappys old .308 without a head shot.
..

You would more than likely need more than 1 head shot from 308... 30-06 would be the lightest round I'd go with taking on something the size of the Rex..

People severely underestimate how fast some of the large animals can move. Unless you have the rifle pointed right at them, most animals like these can close a 50 foot gap before a normal person can get their rifle in a position to shoot the approaching animal

This is right. That 50 foot gap is enough to get off one shot if you hurry and are already on target. For most people, they wouldn't be able to do it. Under duress, not sure if I would.

A big bull elephant weighs less than half of what a big trex would weigh, and you need a whole lot of rifle to reliably brain an elephant in one shot. In most places a .375 h&h is the minimum legal caliber to use and is pretty widely considered to be a very light rifle for that purpose.

And you're going to easily kill something twice as big, with a regular ol deer rifle, by shooting it a few times? I haven't looked at a t-rex skull but it likely had a whole lot of angles where a .308 wouldn't even make it to anything important. That's not the case with even the biggest grizzly bear.

Yeah, that'd be my luck. I'm laughing that a grizzly can't climb trees and 5 min later he done ate me and is just enjoying the view.

I suppose “average hunting rifle” might be a .308. Have you ever been to a natural history museum that has dinosaur skeletons? The bones are thick and the creatures are huge. Plus, we can only guess at how fast a TRex is. Sure, if you’re shooting at him from an armored bunker then have no fear. But out in the open, if he’s running at you then good luck with your rifle. I’m sure a 308 would kill a Trex just as it’ll kill an elephant…eventually and with a lot of shots.

Just propaganda from the grizzly lobby group.

Even if we call "regular hunting rifle" a big safari boomer, its still not enough rifle for something over twice as heavy as a bush elephant for my liking. Ill still take my chances with a grizzly. At least we have concrete knowledge that you can effectively kill those with a regular deer rifle.

You've got to get more than 20 feet high in a tree just to get out of reach of the Rex, and depending on the tree he might be able to push the whole thing over.

I dont think anybody here is appreciating the size and mass of those things vs what we are used to seeing. It was nearly as long as a semi trailer and 15 feet tall to the top of its hips.

I have no idea what they are made of. Which is why I would choose the grizzly. Hell, people regularly hunt and kill them with a 30.06. In this scenario, the grizzly would be the one trying to survive, not the human. The flashbang of the rifle itself would likely scare it away from you.
