odds are its listed as a historical property and requires permission from 27 different regulatory agencies just to replace a toilet or change the wallpaper.
i love the idea of protecting history but they make it unaffordable to buy and live in such places because it requires millions of dollars to preserve and restore every frickin thing no matter how insane the cost to do it are.
