I doubt it.

It takes MASSIVE balls to take on the most powerful nations and the global elite.

MASSIVE BALLS!

No, I wouldn't do it. I have a wife and a kid. But what you would and wouldn't do for your convictions is totally different and you are way more brave and free to do this kind of thing when you are single and have no kids - which describes both of them. That's a VERY important distinction.

Absolutely. And to answer my own question: I wouldn't have the balls to do it...but I have a family.

Would I have the balls to do it as a single man? Probably not. You're gambling your life.

In that respect I admire them.

Snowden wasn't alone. In fact, he was probably a small player, just spilled the beans.

His revelations changed the way people looked at the war on terror and government intrusion. For a bit. Now people are back loving the gubment and it's cool to hate on Snowden and Assange. I appreciate the information we received.

Yeah, I mean what is there not to appreciate when a traitor compromises American tradecraft and weakens NSA's ability to defend us from attack?

All in the name of keeping the amount of times you keyword search, "BBC" on Pornhub private right?

Hint Hint, they weren't even looking at you in the first place

What difference does it make? The potential for misuse is too great.

Keep white knighting for your oppressors, Patty Hearst.

I suppose some of you think there's a muslim behind every wigglin bush.

Nothing has changed. Your government is still keeping tabs on people. Those vast databanks didn't disappear. You're safe.

But does that outweigh the potential for it to be a great tool for identifying/tracking terrorist activities?

I'd gladly allow the use of metadata if it meant the prevention of 9/11.

Leveraging metadata is common practice in the corporate world. You just don't know about it

The "We've been doing it for years" line doesn't make it right to do.

If our nation took immigration even halfway seriously, the need for spying on your own people wouldn't exist.

It doesn't appear to stop terrorist activities.

The truth is I don't care. I don't do or say anything that they would be interested in but for the actual benefit they get from it I can't see where it's worth it.

Unless some terrorist attacks are "allowed" to happen.

What happens within hours of any terrorist attack? Politicians change the topic to gun control...

If it was personally worth the possible consequences, yes. Fear wouldn't dictate my decision if I thought it was truly worth it.

The "why should you care if you aren't doing anything wrong" crowd is no different than the "why would you ever need an 'assault' rifle" crowd. They both conveniently ignore the fact that the argument is about the bigger picture of the rights of a free citizen and the trade off between freedom to choose and perceived protection by the government.
