Like most Cuban villages, Carbonera consists of run-down concrete-block buildings in blue, pink, and green arrayed along muddy, potholed roads, with a small general store. London and Regional Properties Ltd. is preparing to bet $500 million on the place.
The British developer is planning an 18-hole golf course, 1,000 villas and apartments, a 135-room hotel, a tennis academy and a marina in a place it plans to rechristen The Carbonera Club. As President Barack Obama’s visit to the island marks a new chapter in Cuban history, the company says it envisions flying in foreigners to play what Fidel Castro once derided as “a game of the idle rich and exploiters of the people.”

Would you drink Putin's urine if he offered it to you?

I'd go to Cuba.
One of my buddies who post here has to been to probably 30-40 countries and he said Cuba was nice, I'll take his word for it...... sign me up.

I'd do Scotland & Ireland courses repeatedly before I thought "Golf Cuba".
Seeing some of them made me considering renting clubs and playing a round.
No course in the Caribbean or Latin America that I've seen made me consider that.
Tres Fs por Cuba:
Fish, fiesta and frick

They are getting access to likely cheap property value, extremely cheap labor and a unique destination in the Caribbean. Sounds like a good investment to me

Progress will create an island to match every other island and in turn will screw up that place in no time rather than generate massive fortunes from its "50 years in the past time capsule" uniqueness...
