Jesus christ. When did schools stop teaching economics?

Correct. Money or wealth is no longer a good filter. You need cultural related rules that keep the riff raff out.
If not you'll have a bunch of spike haired dudes smoking meth on the course.
Yep.
I've played at expensive clubs, and what should be really nice clubs that don't have (or at least enforce) strict decorum rules. While I haven't seen anyone smoking meth on the course, I have seen tatted up meat-heads in tight "performance" polos and goofy patterned shorts ending about 4 inches below their knees driving around the course acting like a bunch of obnoxious douchebags blaring terrible music from the cart like they were in a ski boat at Crab Island.
Don't get me wrong. These guys have probably done really well in blue-collar industries and have the money necessary to become a member. But that money doesn't equal "class". So if class is what you are aiming for in your club, just having an expensive buy in and membership fees is not enough. If money is the only barrier, then you have to be willing to accept people from many different lifestyles have money today.

This club isn't about capitalism.
After reading this thread, the collective trashiness of the OT is more glaring than ever

Maybe so .
But if anyone here agrees with and likes the rules & policies of this club- then you hereby forfeit the right to go over to the PoliBoard and complain about the “elitists” who are in power in this country .

Screw that. I’ll play LaTour

The second comment wasn't directly at you.
Your big gripe is they don't let in celebrities and you cried about it. It's not some outlandish rule considering where they're located

I still havent heard anyone explain , intelligently or otherwise, how they would define a “celebrity” in a town chock full of famous people .. is it like the definition of pornography “I cant define it, but i know it when i see it “ ?
And i swear, anyone who disagrees with anything nowadays is “crying” about it.. im not a celebrity, i dont have dog in the fight or care how celebrities there are perceived- i just think it’s a ludicrous rule.. and you conveniently ignored my point about how people love these rules but then complain about elitists..

If I could afford that entry fee, you best believe every stich of clothing I would have would be tailored.
I like the rules, keeps the trash out.

I think it's pretty obvious they don't want A list actors and people that are easily recognizable and all the crap that comes with them. I doubt they care about some no name that was in a Broadway play eons ago.

Sorry I conveniently ignored your 'point' about the poli board. Nothing about the topic was political but you're a little political obsessed weirdo so you have to inject it into everything

Me too. They keep people like BK Lounge out. Of course, so would an all male club.

Probably. Yeah. Pretty obvious they don't want anyone that draws any attention. Hugh Hefner bought a house on the course and they still wouldn't let him be a member.

People complain about "elitists" making rules for "non elitists" and then not having to abide by those same rules.
Nobody gives a shite about "elitists" forcing rules on themselves.
All of your points are dumb as shite.

Again, sounds very snobby but it's no different than most clubs
I have absolutely never heard of any club having a ‘No Celebrities’ rule.. how do you even enforce, or determine that ??
Yeah its very common. Clubs of all types don't want attention, they want a low profile. If LACC lets a bunch of movie stars in, they're going to start badgering the staff and the paparazzi are going to be jumping the fence taking pics of Sly Stallone on the back nine. That's not what the club is set up to do.
As to how you enfoce it? There is a board of directors and a membership committee. They either have a rule such as "nobody who gets paid to be on TV or movies can join" and the membership committee discuses each candidate and if they seem too high-profile, they are not offered membership.
quote:
i guess someone like Donald Trump wouldnt be accepted for membership ?
There are very likely quite a few clubs that would not offer Donald Trump a membership. Once he had his own TV show he was pretty high profile and a lot of clubs don't want that attention. Now it is a certainty, regardless of your politics or views on his indictments, that lots of clubs don't want him. They don't want secret service, they don't want paparazzi, they don't want politicians, they don't want investigators snooping around...
I suspect that the reason he started buying clubs is because he was not offered membership and he said "screw them I'll buy the place".
Joe Biden is very discrete because the news media and swamp protect him so he could join a lot of clubs. Hunter, on the other hand, would be a very hard sell. No clubs want a junkie, navy washout, stripper-impregnating member. That brings all kind of bad attention.

Rules are basically the same as any CC, (do they allow non Christians)

I don't know if I agree with that. Some CC's are wide open in terms of membeship - if you can pay, you can get in. Some CC's have race, religion, sex, employment qualifications. Each club has a different culture.
It's a lot like Animal House - do you want to be in Niedermyer's house or Belushi's house?

I guess I've never been to a nice club..what's the logic behind this one?
They wont say it out loud, but its typically to keep the shite head kids of these rich people away from the club. All of those things banned are young, hip fashion wear. They want to keep the club full of older boring wealthy white people.
