Or what about people traveling out of state or on road trips? I imagine quite the line through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama as the weekly Texas convoys make their way to the Florida beaches stopping every 200 miles to charge for 30 min.
Yes it happens, but you're posting in here like it's the norm but it's really rare. I've never had to wait, not once.

Fuel shortages were rare too. Now, imagine waiting in the fuel line at the 30 min fast charger.
PROGRESS!

You are really sore about affordable EVs. Does your wife’s boyfriend drive a Tesla?

How would this work out right now for the millions of people with no electricity and rolling blackouts?
Also, most people aren't going anywhere right now. Also, if your power is out, there are probably 100s of places I can charge locally right now.
quote:Uhhh, why can't I do exactly that in my EV right now?
Those people are using their gas powered vehicles to charge their phones and stay warm. What would they be doing with an EV? I’ll wait.

Why are you not charging your commuter car at home?

The Audi E-tron and Rimac Concept 2 look pretty nice, but I know what you mean. It’s like they could at least try to have some style

Rolling blackouts are horrible, this is like saying "Bread lines are a good thing because that means there is food."

There's a lot of religious zeal in here.
The EV doesn't have to be all things to all people to be viable.
Not everyone needs to tow.
Not everyone needs to go 400 miles on one charge/fill up
Some people would like a car that charges overnight in their garage that can get them to their workplace and back on a daily basis. EV's are probably a good fit for that. And, long term, will be far more reliable. I would MUCH rather have this than the dumb-arse engine idle/shutoff that's happening with ICE cars these days. And would also prefer it to a much more complex hybrid setup. I have a 120 mile daily commute--if this car can do that AND run the heat/AC then it would be an option for me too.
Yes you have to acknowledge electricity costs, the environmental costs of battery mining/manufacturing/disposal, etc.
But don't be a neanderthal and expect things to stay the same forever.
I don't have an EV but added a 240 volt outlet to a recent addition in preparation for the inevitable.

Good commuter car. But I work from home.

So on a trip to elk camp I could go 259 miles, charge for 8 hours and go another 259 miles. That would make my elk camp approximately 5 days away each direction. Frick that.
15 minute at the most to charge up on a road trip

Still 3 times longer than filling up.

I certainly think forcing EV's on the population will end badly. The low priced early EV's probably will be shite in 5 years. Companies will be scrambling trying to make this work.

From the article for this vehicle

It can also use public rapid charging network for a much faster charge (100 miles of charge in 30 minutes).

What are you talking about? And why are you letting a thread about an EV get under your skin to the point where you resort to name calling?
Did someone in a Tesla touch you inappropriately? Did they make fun of you?
