but to go where?

Yep...that's the question, right?

I already want to go further outside of Austin and grab some acreage, so I would likely do that. And, if I needed to rent for 6-12 months until I found what I wanted, then so be it.

shite, part of me would want to buy a duplex and then flip that in a couple of years for even more.

I don’t think you guys understand what’s going on in Austin right now. There is more talent pouring in than ever before. Every weekend the entire city turns into an adult play ground. This is just the beginning

This is the equivalent of someone from Dallas saying “why pay X million dollars for that house in Highland Park? I can get a much bigger/better house in Frisco, TX”.

If you’ve got the funds, why wouldn’t you?

I bought my house less than a year ago and I’m very glad we did then. Houses in my neighborhood that are significantly older and smaller, going for $100k+ more than what we paid.

I am pretty sure I can get a similar size home (without the views) on a 12-15K sqft lot for $600-800K in one of the northern Atlanta suburbs like Alpharetta.

Maybe, but this house is 6 miles to downtown Austin in a very desirable neighborhood with incredible views. You might also be able to build this house for 800k in an Austin suburb if you want to live 30 miles from downtown like Alpharetta is.

No way I would live in Austin. I’m looking at property close to Marble Falls. They’ve built over 600 homes in my area in the last year and building more. Every week I get realtors and builders asking if my lots are for sale. They have several billion dollar developments starting around the Austin area , not to mention Elon’s factory, Amazon,Apple and lot’s of others. So many people moving here everyday!
