Harlingen, TX.

Three months in a shitty hotel. Had to go to South Padre or McAllen to do anything. I'd estimate over half the local population didnt speak English as their first language. Got offered to stay permanent with a small raise and ran like hell back to Alabama.

Crossett has to have a couple of restaurants no? It's small but it has like 10k people I think

Yea I think so but there was only one near the mill we'd go to. A ladys name I believe. Good home cooked stuff. But that town is by far worse than Albuquerque.
The next time I had to go I stayed in Monroe and commuted.

I always have a great time in El Paso. People are nice, food is great, and the Landscape is cool.

Minhang District, Shanghai, China. They even had a hammer and sickle on the outside of the office building which was welcoming.

He should take off early one day and go up to Santa Fe in time to tour the Capitol. It's very unique and the city is cool. Can get back to Albuquerque by dark because it don't get dark till like 9pm up there in the desert.

I know a few people that have lived in China and they all loved it. Everything is super cheap and places like Shanghai, Beijing, etc are world cities

There were some cool areas around Shanghai to visit. Downtown and around the Bund was amazing. However, this office was located in a dump. No AC when it was 95 and humid, just open windows. Got to smell the smog all day with those windows open and listen to stray dogs bark non stop in the lot full of rubble from a destroyed building right next to us.

I'd rather go back to Afghanistan than go to Beaumont.

It’s not COVID. It’s what these cities are like.

I had a friend move to Portland Oregon, back in 2018. He was shocked but what he saw. He lived in a good neighborhood, but they still had problems. The homeless people had invaded, and they would openly masturbate in the street.

I was in Portland Maine, and they have a homeless camp in the Deering Oaks Park, across from the city Post Office. Addicts are just sprawled out, on the sidewalk, in the grass.

It also appeared to be a drug market.

1. Reserve Relief Canal, between I-10 and Lake Maurepas, suveying for a new natural gas pipeline. Hip waders, up to my arse in water and mud all day long. Had to shoot gators and water mocassins.

2.Morgan City

I usually get to go to pretty decent places -- San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange County, Palm Springs, etc.

But we recently got a client in Gary, Indiana and there's no chance I go get killed in that creepy place. I've been reading stories online about that shithole for years.

I guess the most stereotypically bad place I've been is Compton, and it was pretty shite, but it didn't hold a candle to the awful neighborhood I had to walk alone several blocks in on the west side of Oakland. Big trashy women screaming out of their cars at me and cursing out the window.

The winner IMO.

Worst place I've been for work is Pakistan, though it was interesting and I made a few friends. 10 years later one of my friends in Pakistan went to Nigeria for work. He had horror stories. He said if they ever told him to go to Nigeria again he'd quit. He thought it was better to be unemployed in Pakistan than to go back to Nigeria.
