The new 8 series and the new Z has me hoping for better things to come. They are good looking cars. The rest are just a blend of the same design. Nice looking but nothing that catches the eye.

Plus almost all of them are 4 cylinders now

I wish they'd make the inline 6 their standard engine

Ford tried to compete with Lee Iacocca's K Car. Why they picked the Mustang for this effort is still a mystery.

You're a bit off on timeline. Iacocca was still with Ford for the Mustang II launch in '74. He was fired later in the 70's.

Better comparison of the Z. I've always thought 80s Z was hideous compared to the earlier Z

Have to disagree.. That styling was the was the industry was headed... While the 240,260 and 280z's are timeless classics the 300z's almost feel like a completely different car. Its as if Nissan was wanting to get away from a pure sports car and have something more along the line of a GT type car.. That said I'm actually a fan of the entire Zcar lineup in its entirety.. Hard to say that about many others..

ETA... Come to think of it the 911 may br the only other car thats never had a terrible off year like most car models suffer ..

What was Chevrolet thinking

Ugly, but I can vouch for that bad boy pulling off some mighty sweet J-turns back when I turned it loose while working in state law enforcement.

The scrambled egg headlight 996 was ugly both inside and out. It's part of the reason they can be had cheap.

My uncle was hired by Lee Iacocca himself when he returned as CEO of Chrysler. So he worked for Chrysler.

Chrysler had a close relationship with Mitsubishi. Not sure of the extent of the relationship but that's how that happened.

My uncle's wife (my aunt) is Japanese though. Maybe that's how they met. Idk.

Women buyers.

It was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Think of it as the Tramp Stamp of the mid 70's

Good times, a mans home was his "wrasse castle" AKA the Chevy Van

I would love to walk into a board room and point at some of these designs and ask WTF were y’all thinking?

And show how the design is slowly becoming a festering STD that is starting to ooze

The Nissan Pathfinder used to be one of the biggest bad-assed vehicles on the road.

Take a look at the pussy piece-of-shite Pathfinders now.

It’s a complete disgrace how they’ve turned such a big cool SUV into a crossover hunk of garbage.

I can honestly say I never knew Ford did that to the Mustang in ‘74. And I consider myself a car guy. That’s terrible.

hate the trend of turning every SUV and every car into a crossover. Worst of both worlds. Wagons would be great but Americans are too stupid to buy them

Also, too many women are too stupid to buy minivan and insist on an “SUV”.
