I am on the fence about how I feel about car collections like this.. One side I feel.. How freakin selfish this guy/guys are to buy up cars and keep them in a warehouse and deprive someone of owning one of their dream cars.. On the other hand... These guys are saving these cars.. properly restoring them to their original specifications.. for future generations to see and appreciate.. Never was a big fan of Mopar.. But what would I give for one of those Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes or one of those Pontiacs.. Oh and one of those Shelby Cobras.. That era of car styling has never been matched...

Sadly, a lot of these classics are being exported out of the country and many will never be seen on American soil again.
You might be surprised how many Corvettes are in Australia. There is a large fanbase over there.

Henry Shane’s Cars of Yesteryears on Fairfield St.?

And the shitty apartment in Metairie comment is ironic, as Henry Shane made his fortune with First Lake Properties.

That must be it. The owner was an apartment guy. I thought it was the Tonti apts but First Lake is just the same

Many are headed to South America as well. There is a broker/exporter I casually know and he hits all the big auctions. It keeps him pretty busy.

It’s been about 5 years since I saw the Batmobile, and I really didn’t care about it compared to some of the other cars there.

I seem to remember that it was a recent acquisition to him at that time, so I don’t know how that jibes with it possibly being from Copeland’s collection.

This guy (at the time) rented his collection out for movies or as static displays for conventions, parties, etc.

My heart hit the floor when I walked in. Those cars being in the middle of transient Metairie was so strange

And I think I def undershot the worth in there. There is maybe 50-100 million in there

Every single car in there was still 100% operational as well. Thought that was cool considering some were from the early 1900s

His main mechanic is a sharp go getter, he shares his resources with other old car guys.

I know a couple guys that have worked for a dude with a large collection. Meaning full time employees maintaining the cars.

The vid in the OP is pretty nuts. "L88, L88, L88, L88 ragtop" as he goes down a row of Vettes.

As an old, grizzled owner once told me, "today is the only day that you can run out of things to do on a classic car."

So...not open to the public, they don't drive them. The owner probably never even goes in the garage. Money cover up! I don't get it. What's the purpose of having a collection like that. fricking rich people.

Uh, investment?? Why do people own stocks and bonds that that they cannot drive and never see?

What does it matter? Fricking poor people.

Most peoples dream cars are unattainable. Collections like this are great. It's preserving history.

Awesome collection.

Disappointed there wasn't more Chevy Nova's.

Finally got around to watching the full video. That collection is unreal. I cant fathom how you have a collection with the amount of rarity in there like these brothers have.

I mean there were 3-4 Ferraris, a couple lambos, multiple sting rays, etc etc. Just unreal

I went to a Toyota dealership today in Houston to test a Camry. Imagine my surprise to see 2 Ferraris there. I didn't feel very excited about the Camry with those in the same lot.
